The clone engine has been confirmed and revealed! You will no longer need to replace a character in order to use other characters. Enjoy the Roy trailer.

Another "M" based on a Nintendo property?

You're making me nervous here.

The M was initially for people to interpret it as "Melee" but there was another group that exist that was already called Project Melee at the time.

This clone engine is actually big news for Project M, since it means that they're going to be able to add the other Melee characters into the game. I'm hoping this means Mewtwo is coming :P

OMG, is there like a tutorial for this clone engine? I love how you can hack ssbb to increase the amount of stages on the selection screen, now we can do this to the roster as well? I'm so excited.

Man, this project is still going. While this is an especially cool extra feature all this proves to me is that no matter how much you tweak a game it sure as hell is hard to please fighting game fans.

Thank god Better, More on Fire, Marth is back.
I can handle Marth fairly well...but I like when my attacks actually do something.

So, pretty sexy. Never heard of this Project M thingy but i'll keep an eye on it now...seems very interesting.

No tutorial yet. We only recently announced Roy which also confirmed the clone engine. I can say with confidence that it is extremely not newbie-friendly. The clone engine is different for each character and the difficulty to clone each character varies. Not only that, you have to understand the code, know how to code, and know what to do with the other files. You have no idea how long it took us to "perfect" this code.

Awesome! Is there a release date of this?

We haven't decided on a release date yet. Sorry.

Well, the project was never complete. The first few versions only had a fraction of the roster, so it makes sense that it's still going, given the amount of support it has received.
