Hey guys, I was wondering if there was a way to play Super Mario World ROM hacks, specifically the co-op and 2nd player controls the enemies ROM hacks on my Wii using SNES GX, I haven't gotten it to work so any help would be appreciated.

On a side note I'm also trying to get Newer Super Mario Bros Wii to work on CFG USB Loader. It works fine on USB Loader GX, but I'd prefer it to work on both. When I click it on CFG USB Loader, a black screen with white text pops up and I get a DSI error. Thanks in advance.

The Mario World ROM hacks actually just don't work at all, they freeze when loading. I understand how to get them into the ROMs folder, they just don't work when I try to play them. For Newer SMBW, I have a feeling it doesn't work maybe because I have the original NSMBW interfering somehow. I have the file converted to wbfs, if I change it to an ISO will it work on my wbfs formatted drive?

Well then, looks like a ROM problem. I don't have a Wii, but an emulator is an emulator, so it shouldn't matter much.
Take the patch from the description of this video:www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNHEcK1_Zl0
Use SMW.ips
Now try patching a USA ROM, (can't link)
Headerless and with a header.
Try with a Europian ROM too headerless and with a header.
(Don't try with a Japanese ROM; I had this patch before and I am sure the ROM wasn't Japanese)
Also, try getting ROMS with different a CRC32.
I would let you know what ROM you need, but I don't know.
(BTW for less lag increase the emulators memory if you can)
I can't answer the Newer Super Mario Bros Wii problem because again I do not own a Wii.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
