Even to the extent to which one could agree, there's still the fact that 40 years of trial and error video game and computer science development SHOULD result in a superior product being made today. And yet, still usually doesn't. You really have to give Nintendo circa 1983-8 credit for the game concepts they created, vs. what comes out new today which is mostly just derived from those original ideas and glitzed up with graphics pizzaz.

Not even close, Wonder holds the player's hand through 95% of the game and gives you everything for free. SMB3 rewards thinking outside the box and gives the player far more freedom, rather than strapping them in for an on-rails experience. I doubt any other 2D Mario game will ever top SMB3 or SMW.

Why is somebody comparing a 36 year old game to a 1 year old one? No matter what you say, Super Mario Bros Wonder is literally better in multiple ways than SMB3. The only reason somebody would like the latter more is 100% personal preference;.

This game will always have my favorite intro of Famicom/NES game.
It or possibly either SMB1 were the first console games besides Excitebike I played.

SMB3 holds a very special place in my heart as it was a game that I played with my dad and my mom growing up. The levels with the Boos always scared me so he would do those. One time I beat Bowser with Flower Power and my mom was not happy as it was her turn to play but I got up before her and beat him and since he didn't break enough bricks yet there was no hole to kill yourself in.
