I gave it a spin, and played during my train ride to work. For a homebrew Mario game it's pretty good. They have koopas that blow up after you stomp them. XD
As far as controls it's practically like the original Mario games made for GBA, my only gripe is that the bg music is a bit low and getting a coin it just blasts over the bg music. Also, to me jump felt a bit odd. I would jump one way then turn back but it would still go forward and well that's one of the ways I died. Not sure if it was just me, or it was the game though. >_>

Controls aren't that bad (when the character jumps, it does lag a bit)

The level design sucks from what I've played so far, definitely not the best Super Mario game I've played...

No, I just took a screenshot from VBA and uploaded it.

The game doesn't freeze, you just die! (instead of the koopas going into their shells so that you can use them, they turn into bombs which kill you!)

I think so, since the music sounds like SML remixed.

one of the reasons that its controls are a little odd is that there is no acceleration in its movements and mario moves in constant speed and when you release directional keys, it suddenly stops, rahter than slowing down and then stopping.

another one is that other characters's FPS seem to be lower than 60 but mario himself is around 60 fps, so it makes it a little odd.

It's not too bad but yes it's like a remixed version of Super Mario Land for GB. Hence the fly characters and the Spinx's that sit and spit fire balls at you. The level design leave something to be desired. But I find it's better than some of the mario homebrew games out there graphically. The controls I find to be sluggish and I can't quite just blast though the game as I find that by the time the screen shows what's up ahead it's too late and I'm already dead LOL.

truthly i think it aint that bad, fair enough the graphics could be a lot better and controls could be more sharp but its homebrew, and for a HB games i realy like it. specialy the mr do! song while you have the star, man soooooooo retro lol a fair 7/10 my rating

it is pretty fun. the controls need to be tweaked and the sound levels need to be adjusted. the gfx are nice, they look like snes supermario and the extra suprises (like exploding turtles) is a nice touch.
