If the Super Mario 3D All-Stars release of Super Mario 64 wasn't feeling authentic enough for you, it might now. Nintendo has put out a new update for the game, which adds support for the Nintendo Switch Online N64 controller. It goes along with the previous update that came out last year, which allowed players to use the GameCube adapter to play Super Mario Sunshine with that controller option. Of course, having an NSO N64 controller to use with the new update might be a bit of struggle, considering they're all sold out until next year.

Ah yes, nothing says "Nintendo" more than adding support for a controller that's out of stock for a game that's no longer available on a digital storefront. Congrats on a dumbass decision.

Marketing wise it's a really good move. They made sure (as always) everyone would know there would be scarcity, but they also gave a second chance (second wave of preorders) after the first one went out of stock so everyone would rush into buying.

And as usual it works. I've bought 4 controllers during the second wave where I would have probably only got 2 otherwise, and I know I'm not alone in this.

They're likely invoking artificial scarcity. There's no reason they couldn't produce these controllers en masse. I'd like to buy 3 more.

Yes, to be honest i also would like to have 2 NES - 2 SNES - 4 N64 - 2 MD .. but i will not pay 100-150$ per Stick as for this amount of money i would get an original N64 with HDMi Mod and Everydrive if you are lucky xD ..

Perhaps we get some in some weeks on Aliexpress, bought there also a second Pro Controller and the quality was really good.

I bought two of each, but I'd have liked to have bought four n64 ones, just so I could sell at least one or two to @Glyptofane . I know he wanted at least one. I sent him a link when they were on sale, but some dumb ass thought that they didn't work on the pc, so he didn't buy any. anyway, I didn't have the money to buy more than two.

The only thing that would've made the N64 on Wii better is if it had proper alpha dithering implemented (the pixel dissolve effect from invisible Mario) but yeah, all around it's superior

Another thing none of the emulators were able to get right even the WIi VC was the shader used for Morpha. Every Nintendo emu has this diamond pattern where as the N64 original Looks more like an organism with blue veins. And some reason the 3DS remaster also uses the diamond pattern. They don't use the original intended design. This is a very small issue since Morpha fight is short and Morpha is small so you probably won't notice.
