More importantly. See that big black thing forming off Vanuatu? That would probably cover 3/4 of Queensland if that hit Australia.

Hopefully the flooding won't extend south and inundate Brisbane again. They should learn from the mistake and start emptying water out of the dams a little earlier.

She's gone CAT5, 295km/h near centre.

It looks as if this big bitch is going to tear a 200 - 300km wide track right through Queensland as well as inundating a sizeable chunk of the Queensland coast with a tsunami like storm surge anywhere from 2 -5+ meters high.

Good luck Queensland. I am praying for our family in Townsville

If it squeezes between Cairns and Townsville then they will probably be spared the worst of the winds. The storm surge is another matter which will be much more wide spread and cause just as much damage.

I wish it was only that... If this Cat5 doesn't flatten the house, the flooding from the storm surge will take all our crap anyway. *sigh*

Yasi just went Cat 5, at this rate there won't be a Townsville or a Cairns by Thursday morning.

I hope it doesn't inundate through the rest of QLD, you'd think they've suffered enough.

even if it does cyclones always lose power once they reach inland their most dangerous when in their at sea and hit coasts.

This system is so large it could push quite a way inland before it looses cyclone intensity.
