Hey everyone, first time posting. I'm desperately trying to find another PS4 Pro to sit on in hopes of a 4.55+ FW and I thought of checking retailers who aren't as popular, which lead me to Sears. I decided to take a gamble on this $600 bundle from Sears (can't link because I'm new) - they have a couple bundles with Bloodborne, GTA V, and CoD Infinity War, which all state: "Added on November 04, 2016" Mine should be here within the week, and I'll report back.

For reference, I made sure to get one that ships from either Sears or K-Mart since they (my hope) have them pre-bundled from 11/2016 and are just sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Sears also offers free returns in a store, or I think I can pay to ship it back

If you update via normal method, it will go right to 5.05. There's some guides on shutting off updates and manually updating with a USB drive

NO! you have to update it manually by downloading original 4.05 update from a trusted source. For example (those files are completely legal):

Yes, Argos have a decent return policy if the item is unopened, check the serial to see if it matches known low fw slims (not sure on the exact serials but it is somewhere in this thread)

And let us know what you get serial wise from argos

i thought it was ok if you opened it, doesnt mention it in the T&Cs

I have taken items back to argos before and got a instant refund i just said it was faulty.

From what I gather, a standard ps4 is easier to get with a firmware below 4.05 due to the bundles.
The pro is harder, especially because it has to go through online order process and return if not the proper firmware.
With this in mind, with a 4k TV, is it worth the trouble of trying to find a pro to run 4.05 games?
Or can the standard do a good job with the output at 1080p on the TV?

Those <=4.05 PS4 models will be soon be extinct from every store. Some ppl here are even buying and re-selling those models at very higher prices.

It's still possible to get a used one for a decent price on ebay if you spam questions to every seller.

Not for long though as they are starting to hear about the exploit and hiking up the price.

So I bought an Uncharted slim bundle I found on OfferUp since I know for sure it can be CFW'd because it should be under 4.05, but I am also trying to find a Pro for two reasons: Better processor and RAM (though, if no one can find them the emulators may never utilize them) and under the hope that a 4.50+ exploit is release, which will then take advantage of all of the processing power. I have my regular Pro and a 4K TV for all of my 4K needs. So, to answer your question, a regular PS4 or Slim will be just fine, I'm just kind of future proofing myself, but it could backfire
