Never mind, the seller was giving me an incorrect number as you may have guessed.
The serial # actually starts with MC7xxxxxxxx so the search continues....

Most likely that is a new console. Probably 90% of available consoles in stores now are new consoles shipped with 4.74/4.73 firmware.

Anything after 2016 is guaranteed to be greater than 4.05, without question.

I meant the back of the box. I heard some people said that if the back of the box says "Horizon Zero Dawn Coming 2017", then it's a 4.05 or under unit.

I need some info here, this might be a silly question. So I did get a PS4 Slim on 4.01 and the package date was November 2016, so it is still in the box(opened only once to check fw), so my problem is that I will be unable to play my PS4 until May 2019 due to some personal reasons. Will keeping the PS4 unused, cause the CMOS battery or something to die?

No, the NA one is the one that is confirmed below 4.05 if new, but the EUR has been confirmed to have mixed fws.

But browsing across the pages some people like Tony above have said the EU version might have newer firmware. Is that true?

Or are all phat-PS4 (bundle, special edition or otherwise) <4.05?

I'm in the US and my sealed PS4 Slim 500GB Uncharted 4 Bundle just arrived. I followed the link in this Wololo article and bought it from Amazon: http://wololo.net/2017/10/23/ps4-get-hands-ps4-4-05-firmware-lower/

I will check it tonight at home and confirm what firmware came on it.

Edit 1: After looking at the front page again and the above flow chart I should be good. The #'s on my box are UCS CUH-2015A BO1X / P-27452375-H / S01-746xxxx-x.

Edit 2: Just noticed canariobr's post a few above and worried. Also now see mine is UCS and that puts everything into limo until tonight.

Edit 3: Hello World. All is good, OFW is 3.55.

Awww cr*p, now this has me worried. I'm in the US and ordered one off Amazon and it arrived today: Sealed New PS4 Slim 500GB Uncharted 4 Bundle - UCS CUH-2015A BO1X / P-27452375-H / S01-746xxxx.

Thought I had this nailed, now nothing but worries until I get home from work and plug her in. Will update findings tonight. Grrrrrrrrr...

Edit 1: Ok I can confirm that this came with OFW 3.55, yay me. Now I have this Uncharted 4 500GB slim Bundle on 3.55 & also a 1TB slim Star Wars Battlefront II Bundle on 5.05 purchased last year, which is waiting its turn for an exploit. Hope this helps someone else:
