TLDR: Suddenly getting a black screen when booting up the Wii, but launching Priiloader still worked. But after replacing the Bluetooth module, I still get a black screen and attempting to launch Priiloader now also shows a black screen.
Hi all, this is my last resort before buying another Wii.
One day out of nowhere, I turned on my Wii and it showed a black screen. I didn't make any modifications in recent years, never installed any themes and never did any weird region swapping. It was fully working for years until I decided to turn it on one day. I was able to load up priiloader without an issue, and through there I could launch the homebrew channel and use homebrew apps, but going to the Wii menu or launching any game in usb loader would show a black screen.
I looked into any potential causes and saw that a common one would be the Bluetooth module not working. Given the fact that I wasn't able to sync any controllers, I figured reseating or replacing the bluetooth module would be a good next step. So I carefully disassembled the Wii, unplugged and plugged in the Bluetooth module, then re-assembling everything back to its place. Nothing went wrong during this process, I was very careful in disconnecting things and I checked all the cables to make sure nothing was torn or unplugged before assembling it again. Besides the bluetooth module I only had to disconnect the front panel containing the buttons, and the power and data cables to the disc drive. After re-assembling, the Wii still boots to a black screen, AND launching Priiloader doesn't work anymore, it still shows a black screen. I still went ahead and bought a new Bluetooth module, replaced it, but still the same issue. I did not disassemble the Wii far enough to be able to mess around with other components. I also tested my video setup by plugging in a borrowed Wii, and it showed an image fine.
What failing component could be causing this black screen? Or am I just completely screwed here? Appreciate any help.
