Hacking Still on 3.0.1, should i update or wait?

They literally didn't do anything besides develop a backup loader, in fact they stole quite a bit of code from ReSwitched, and the entrypoint was also not found by them.

They were the first ones to show to have the entry point with a video what are you saying?

Also I love how you say backup loader like it's nothing while in reality is the most important thing.

If you want to upgrade while retaining the ability to downgrade back to 3.0.1 for future non-RCM exploits, then you can follow this guide to update without burning your efuses.

This. The guide is long but is fairly easy to follow. I was on 3.0.0 this morning and am now playing > 3.0.0 firmware games on it, without burning any efuses or updating the gamecard reader. Just pay special attention to the red text. In fact, I would recommend reading through the instructions as well as the first page or two of responses before even starting.

Hahahahahah. Emphasis on video. RCM mode was discovered wayy before that.

Yep the RCM was probably known a long time ago, maybe someone even could know about it even before Switch because it was kinda documented on the Tegra X1 report somewhere and it described already a certain pin would act as a home button (which other Tegra X1 devices probably already have to enter in their bootloader, recovery menu but was kinda hidden from Switch as Nintendo made no actual tegra X1 home button input\output to anything as the joy-con can't use the pin 10 either).

Now from RCM to a exploit probably is what delayed a lot, but even that most likely was already being worked on before TX actually shown it in a video, I think Kate already knew about it and others.

ps: But no idea, don't care a single bit about community vs TX or whatever, all I know is the more interested teams\hackers the better, paid or free...

If you don't mind using a jig and/or AutoRCM forever to boot into RCM and run payloads, then there's no reason not to update.

If you want to upgrade while retaining the ability to downgrade back to 3.0.1 for future non-RCM exploits, then you can follow this guide to update without burning your efuses. However, it requires that you install AutoRCM to keep from accidentally burning your efuses.

It should also be noted that the SX OS doesn't offer much anymore. Unless you want the SX dongle, there are free alternatives to almost everything SX OS offers.


I bought my Switch last October, and I probably didn't start using it until May or June.

Forgive me if im wrong, but isnt TX the only one to run XCI backups, which are safer against ban?

Im on the same situation as OP, my Switch is on 3.0.2 for five or more months now, since im kinda scared to follow the guide to not burn fuses and mess with autoRCM.

You have waited this long so just stick to 3.0.1.

Or

If you do upgrade to the latest version do so using the guide so you don't burn your fuses. Will come in handy in the future.

Or

Buy a new switch and use that to do your modding. Be careful though as you might get one from the new batch.

I suggest going for the first option
