Steins;Gate 0 Coming West on PS4 and PSVITA in 2016

SteinsGate0-Ann.jpg
The sequel to the highly-acclaimed visual novel, Steins;Gate, will be hitting western shores sometime in 2016. Both North American and European localizations by were confirmed today by PQube. There will be a PS4 and PSVITA version of the game.

Steins;Gate 0 is the follow up to the award-winning and chart-topping Steins;Gate – the sci-fi time travel visual novel that took the west by storm just last year. There’s a reason everyone loves it so much. Steins;Gate 0 is more than a simple sequel, instead exploring a branch of one of Steins;Gate’s alternate endings. Okabe and the Future Gadget Lab members, along with new characters, star in this story about AI and the creation of something called “Amadeus” – which can allow you to interact with the store memories of another person. We’re loving what we’ve seen so far!

Bold move on their part for actually localising the Vita version though, considering how dead the Vita is in the west.
Well, they're at least charging a premium for it, 20% over the standard price (at least in USD). It's slightly fair in that they're going to have to ship it internationally, although since the first orders will be going overseas in bulk it seems like it shouldn't be that much.

Also, for what it's worth, the translation apparently isn't being done by the guys who did the original Steins;Gate translation.

*crosses fingers for Lukako being replaced with Rukako*

But yeah, I'll be waiting for the PC version (assuming it comes out in a timely manner). With my PSTV, I'd have to be stuck with an upscaled resolution, but with the PC release I'd be able to enjoy Mayuri in all of her 1080p goodness.

VNs are pretty popular on the vita. Chances are the vita version sold better than the ps3 version of the first game

That was one thing that kind of bugged me. After being familiar with Rukako from watching the anime it felt very odd reading it as lukako, especially when I really don't see any reason to translate it differently.

That's also part of the reason why I'm waiting for the PC release. Someone could (with the right skills and tools) easily do a find&replace with the game's script.

PS Vita coming west to my pocket in 2016.
If you don't have a Vita yet and are buying one solely for this game, I'd highly recommend a PSTV. At least 1/5th of the price, and you can play on a TV or computer monitor instead of trying to read text on a small screen.
IMHO, portability wins.
If you've yet to buy a Vita, then portability can't be THAT big of an issue for you.
Can't friggin decide where to buy.

PS4 for a larger screen = nicer experience
PSVita for portability
Get a PSTV and then you can have both portability AND the ability to view the game on a larger screen (assuming you already have a Vita, which it sounds like you do).

Sorry, I am a 3DS guy.
I didn't go Sony this generation, neither PS4 or Vita. For some weird reason.
Anyway, I play portable most of the time on the 3DS, and my Wii U and PC just collect dust together with all the games I bought for them. (Wait? Are there games for the WiiU? /s)
Hell, I should make some time to play home, but I just don't have it.

For me, playing (reading?) a visual novel while out and about is a no go. The best part of visual novels is the way that they, at least the good ones, totally engross me in their story. I wouldn't be able to fully enjoy them if I had to hear various background noises, including but not limited to coworkers, various randos, the buzzing of machinery, etc. It'd be especially bad if I was at a really important part of the story and then had to go back to work or what-have-you. Or... if a moment similar to the one in Steins;Gate happened... you know which one I mean. The one that would make me start bawling like a little girl while everyone around me turns their head and stares... poor *insert character's name here*...
