As the title says : Valve isn't going to support the upcoming version of Ubuntu anymore. The reason : it is ditching the32-not libraries on which older games still rely on.

Is a rather remarkable move, as Ubuntu was the main distro (apart from steamos) that valve supported on Linux. Then again : I can, to a degree, understand how Ubuntu wants to ditch legacy drivers at some point. But this seems both drastic and coming from nowhere.

And yes, this affects distros based on Ubuntu as well (meaning: mint users beware), though it obviously takes some time before these become based on this yet to be released distro. It could go anywhere from here, from packages that simply re-add the missing architecture to flatpak versions of steam (though I don't see how they'll make all games work).

Your thoughts on this?

EDIT: forgot to mention : some parts of wine will also be affected, and I've read one user saying that gog games also had issues (could be tied to the wine issues, though)
