I am currently on 5.3.2 - should I stay there or upgrade to 5.5.1?

I've read somewhere, that the 5.5.1 exploit is super stable and easier to use than the 5.3.2 exploit. Is this true?

    Why not ?

Can you list some benefits of staying on 5.3.2 that would make 5.5.1 a real waste of time updating too

    the lower, the better
the lower the firmware is, more vulnerabilities there are

There is nothing you can't do on 5.3 that you can on 5.5. And as Filo said there are also more vulnerabilities.
So it'd be best to just stay where you are.

He asked you to give him some reasons, bruh.
The kernel exploit is on both systems, therefore, why is it better to stay on a lower system firmware? 5.5.1 is more consistent than 5.3.2 I think, since there isn't race attack.
It doesn't matter if there are more vulnerabilities if they can't be patched on the system firmware itself.

Ya ?... So basically there isn't a solid reason to stay on 5.3.2

.... At least no one gave a good reason to stay low.

For Wii everyone said stay on 4.1 but I can do everything I have wanted to on 4.3 , so to me
This is just another example of people scared to update.

Why not update and have the best of the exploit and being on the latest firmware

you gain absolutely nothing updating on Wii U. it's best to just stay behind.

You do. You gain stability and online play. That tweet doesn't say that you don't. We asked for reasons. If you don't know the reasons then let someone else explain please.

"stability" is a joke but this isn't a thread to joke around in, so...

for online play, that's pretty easy: you can install the newer VersionData or something to spoof the version and be able to use the eshop/play games online.

what else would you actually get updating? gx2sploit (the new kexploit leaked for 5.5.1) has been backported to 5.3.2/5.4.0 so it's more stable now.

There are small things that have been updated. The internet browser for example, works better, something I've noticed.

Not having to install anything is an advantage on it's own.

So, you're telling me that running the exploits on the older firmware's is stabler than running it on the newer ones?

may be "stabler" or not, I'm not sure. but it's definitely better than the previous exploit.

please explain "The internet browser for example, works better". there weren't really any new features/etc since 5.3.2.

    I'm sticking to v5.3.2.
There's no real benefit to updating.

I checked. It is stabler on 5.5.1.

I didn't say there were any new features. I noticed that it stopped crashing randomly.

Let me ask you this. Has there ever been a benefit of updating anything when it comes to hacks?

For some people online play is a must have feature with hacks. That's the only thing I can think of.

in terms of Wii U, online play can be easily achieved on older versions. installing the newer VersionData (or something, I've never spoofed since I'm on 5.5.1 right now) is a permanent thing I think.

True. But some people don't like messing with spoofing and that kind of stuff. I'm on 5.5.1 as well. I sure did buy a wii u at the right time.

updating is still a pretty bad idea even if you don't want to spoof things, since in most cases you will lose access to homebrew. this is the only time where updating doesn't make you lose much since the latest firmware at the time of this writing is exploitable.

We're all still waiting for IOSU. With it, there is the likelihood of an emuNAND-like solution for the Wii U similar to that of the 3DS. It would be a million times better than simply having the kernel exploits we have now, because they're limited. While it is possible that IOSU might be released for 5.5.1 if/when it is released, it is more likely that it will be released for lower system versions first. Since 5.5.1 offers nothing more than easy online play (which will likely be temporary since Nintendo could publish a new update at any time), it is better to stay on 5.3.2.
