Microsoft has given their upcoming zombie action game exclusive, State of Decay 2, a release date. It'll be launching this year on May 22, for both Xbox One and PC. The game itself will cost $29.99, while an ultimate edition that costs $49.99 will grant players access to the game 4 days early, and includes two future DLC packs. Following the announcement from January, State of Decay 2 will also be included in an Xbox Game Pass subscription, letting you play the game without buying it, if you subscribe to the monthly program. State of Decay 2 was revealed back at E3 2016, and has also been announced to offer 4-player online campaign co-op.

I'm liking the fact we've not seen much of this, yet the release is 2 months off ...makes me believe the game will be a hilarious broken mess for the first six months, like the original ...which was what made that game such a laff to play! One they started ironing out the biggest bugs it got pretty boring. Could be a Day One purchase for me then!

That's good and all, but the question remains, will they completely ruin their amazing game yet again by FORCING autosaving and making it so that the game progresses when you aren't playing? Because those two things made an incredible game (SoD: Year One) into something not worth spending a penny on! You could have been playing for 500+ hours, have built a really advanced community and have allied ones too, yet if you didn't play for 3-4 days any you would come back and see half the people sick or dead and your community devastated! I literally have had to start a new game 350 times before I gave up on it with a total of ~790 hours in those tries! I couldn't enjoy the game because of how it ruined everything the moment I exited it! As for the forced autosave, it can autosave at the worst parts imaginable so it's kinda too huge of a pain if you need to exit the game suddenly, plus it doesn't let you just switch from serious strategic gameplay to a casual one where you just mess around (and once you get bored of messing around, you can go back to your actual save and play seriously again).

I was really anticipating to buy this one but I opted for game pass instead. Amazing game one of the best IPs Microsoft has a deal for imho.
