The release date for Super Street Fighter 4 will be April 27, 2010 in North America and will follow on the 28th in Japan and the 30th in Europe. Here's the official press release from Capcom announcing the release date.

The follow-up to the critically acclaimed Street Fighter IV will further redefine the 2-D fighting genre with a host of new features including new characters, new ultra combos, new online modes, the return of the famed bonus stages and retuned online and offline gameplay.

Super Street Fighter IV’s new characters include Street Fighter’s first Tae Kwon Do-styled fighter - the deadly female fighter Juri - classic Street Fighters such as Cody, Guy, T. Hawk, Dee Jay, Adon and more to complement the full roster of returning fighters from Street Fighter IV. Featuring all new user-selectable Ultra Combos and advancements to the online gameplay and matchmaking, Super Street Fighter IV is the ultimate vision of Street Fighter.

According to the Japanese SSF4 blog, It will sell for 4,990 Yen, which is about $55 when converted to United States dollars, which seems a bit pricey considering we've heard this won't be a full priced title.

It may be that the game is simply selling for more in Japan and will be cheaper when it hits other countries though.

Also a new anime production was announced, here is the trailer for it.

Azrael also provided these notes by translating the blog.

    • You get the classic pack of alternative costumes for Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Gen, and Fei Long which can be downloaded free of charge (after July 1st, you'll have to buy it).

    • The new SSF4 Juri anime movie will be an exclusive to the XBox 360 and only available in Japan.

    • A collectors package will be sold, including a CD with the character's background music, all promotional videos and trailers, character art, and a mini story for SSFIV. Will be sold for 5,990 yen (about $66 USD). [Editor's note: This may only be available to people outside of Japan through Capcom's store, as retailers here haven't liked the idea and Capcom U.S.A. is working on making something special for fans here.]

    • Will be a playable version at the national tournament, April 4th, with all characters available.

    • She notes that this update doesn't include any info about new characters, and asks everyone to please wait just a little bit more.

Any info if SF4 players can play online against SSF4 players?

I still think this should have been DLC, oh well...

I have hundreds of hours of SF4 played online for both 360 and PS3, and even if they charged 60 bucks, its a steal of a price for everything you are getting. This is a day 1 purchase on ps3 for me.

And no way will SF4 players play against SSF4, they're using a faster speed + differences in the old moves, could never work.

I always lol @ US people when they say "Holy fu** we need to pay 50$ for a game!? That's too much"

They obviously have no idea of how pricey games can be on other countries, In México this game will get the "average" price for newer games... 85 USD.

Oh and the anime looks pretty meh,But at least it's not Udon...
