Apparently FFXIII has been killing PS3s and no one is willing to take responsibility for it.

Now both Sony and Square Enix are facing a class action lawsuit over a large number of PS3s that have frozen up and even refuse to play other media or respond at all.

Sony is blaming Square Enix's game discs and Square Enix is blaming Sony's consoles. Neither shows any interest or willingness to take the blame for the problem or do anything for those affected.

This is what IGNs article has to say on the matter:

I'm glad I never got a PS3 and FFXIII. I feel sorry for the people who did.

My boyfriend owns a PS3 and FFXIII and his hasn't had this problem yet, but he's afraid to put it back in his PS3 now.

There was another thread about this. Search fail.
Also I owned FFXIII but for 360, never had a problem with it, yay!

I was hesitating about buying FFXIII, but now... But seriously, how can a game can do that ? Is it a problem with the lens ?

I'm not surprised FF13 is causing problems with consoles. I tried to give the game a decent go, but after a hour and a half I felt like throwing it out the window. It's one of the worst games i've ever brought.

    This.

And the other thread had reports of it also happening on the Xbox version, which tells me it's Squeenix's fault.

    Yeah you would know...

But anyway, I haven't been playing Final Fantasy XIII for the longest but even while I was playing it I haven't experienced any problems. But if it happens on the 360 as well, than it must be SE fault.
