Captain Marvel will reverse the timeline. That was one hell of an ending. I'm trying to figure out how they're going to move forward for the next movie...
But the awful truth is that it was a happy ending... just not the one that anyone expected, nor for whom anyone would've thought
I don't see how, that's not one of her powers as far as I'm aware of. I'd place higher stakes on Adam Warlock coming out of nowhere and taunting Thanos through the Soul Stone, like in the comics, given that his birth was hinted at in the post-credits sequence of Guardians 2Captain Marvel will reverse the timeline.
Just throwing her off of the cliff should have been enough, though I guess you're right to an extent; if we hadn't seen her explicitly dead, the audience might have thought that she could still be alive. If they left Gamora's death to the imagination it wouldn't be clear if she had died or not. I'm fairly certain that for the script of the next movie to work she really NEEDS to be dead
Gamora's death scene was a tad overdone (personally think they should've left it more up to the audience's imagination), but, for the most part, the movie was really well done. I was surprised at how they were able to pull off the various plot threads, balancing all sorts of different character types without having any of them come across as single-minded or taking away from any of their respective personalities.
