Homebrew Spirit Tracks DeSmuMe save file not working

The game starts up and everything but the save file always gets created when I restart the emulator. The obvious short term solution to this is to leave the emulator on but is there a way to make the save file work anyways?

I'm having the same problem (R4 original+YSmenu) as well, tried several conversion types but non have worked and I'm too much (I think) in the game.

EDIT: still can't get it ...anyone ?
