Okay so my error is that whenever I try to open the acnlram.bin file to start editing my town, it says "Invalid Type of File." But I don't understand because I have retried so many times and I followed the procedures correctly! How do you uninstall the files from the SD Card? And thank you for helping me

Editor is working for me right now, I get the items in the list
Yeah, this is how I learned to do things. This actually interests me more than pokemon hacking.
Now that I noticed the house components in the item list (were they there all along? i feel so stupid now), I'm going to check if I can manage to make house exterior editing a reality.
Everything concerning the house exterior is between bits 0x57e84 and 0x57e8c. This includes house shape, so you can have any house shape without full expansion.
The same codes repeats from 0x57e8d to 0x57e95. You HAVE to EDIT BOTH OF THESE LOOPS for changes to stick
I'm checking everything bit by bit to figure out what does what, but so far, I believe.
- 0x57e84 changes the exterior size. The minimal value is 01, the biggest value is 07. It repeats at 0x57e8d
- 0x57e85 changes the exterior shape. 00 is the mansion, 01 is the zen castle, 02 is the castle and 03 the modern house. It repeats at 0x57e8e
- 0x57e86 changes the door shape. 00 is for arched, 01 for rectangular. It repeats at 0x57e8f
- 0x57e87 changes the exterior color. If I counted right, it goes from 00 to 1f. It repeats at 0x57e90
- 0x57e88 changes the roof color. Again, if I counted right, it should go from 00 to 21. It repeats at 0x57e91
- 0x57e89 changes the door's color. It does not affect the shape of the door. Goes from 00 to 15. It repeats at 0x56e92
- 0x57e8a changes the fence. If I counted right, it goes from 00 to 16. It repeats at 0x56e93
- 0x57e8b changes the pavement. I think it goes from 00 to 08. It repeats at 0x56e94
- 0x57e8c changes the mailbox! The minimal value is 00 (red mailbox) and biggest value is 15 (sweets mailbox). It repeats at 0x56e95
ok, so i did all the steps in the right order, i did everything right. i have the right version.
when i inject, and then the browser crashes then i go onto acnl, acnl crashes too, and the system restarts. when i go BACK onto acnl, nothing has happened and i have spent an HOUR doing it over and OVER and it REALLY annoying. any help please?
Woo, golden exterior. I'm pretty sure I'm done with house exterior research.
You can use Mark's editor item list in the unused section to figure out the hex number for the item you want. The first item of a category is always 00.
In order. The bits loop twice, but this is the first loop. It loops straight after (from 0x57e8d to 0x57e95). IF YOU ONLY EDIT THE FIRST LOOP (0X57E84 TO 0X57E8C), THE CHANGES WILL RESET AT 6AM.YOU NEED TO EDIT BOTH LOOPS IF YOU WANT THINGS TO BE PERMANENT
Here are the coordinates and the example I used to get the above result.
@ 0x057e84 & 0x057e8d : 01 = smallest size of house
@ 0x057e85 & 0x057e8e : 00 = mansion size
@ 0x057e86 & 0x057e8f : 00 = arched door
@ 0x057e87 & 0x057e90 : 1f = golden exterior
@ 0x057e88 & 0x057e91 : 1f = golden roof
@ 0x057e89 & 0x057e92 : 15 = golden door
@ 0x057e8a & 0x057e93 : 16 = golden fence
@ 0x057e8b & 0x057e94 : 04 = square pavement
@ 0x057e8c & 0x057e95 : 06 = golden mailbox
I think the house editing for Player 2 starts at 0x590ac and for Player 3, starts at 0x5a2d4. I will confirm these tomorrow, after I get a couple hours of shut-eye.
try putting 10 or so Bells around your train station and see if it works. If not, the problem has nothing to do with "did i change too much? did i change not enough?"
So, how to edit your town name and characters name
Character name :
1) Open HxD and then open your acnlram.bin file in it
2) Go to Search > Replace
3) In the "Search for" field, type your exact actual name in hexadecimal, if it's Chris, it would be 43 68 72 69 73
But you have to add nullbytes after each bytes of letters to separate them, so you have to type 43 00 68 00 72 00 69 00 73
This is an example, put your own values.
Important note : 00 are nullbytes, you have to add nullbytes to equalize the size of the values. If you don't equalize the values size, it will change the file size, and then all the offsets locations are messed up and your file is destroyed. If it asks you to change the file size, say no and add nullbytes, else you know what will happen.
If your name is "Heey" and your want to replace it to "Helloo", you have to put nullbytes at the hex value of "Heey", because "Heey" is the smaller word and contain 4 letters, but "Helloo" containts 6 letters, it's not equal.
If you add 2 nullbytes at "Heey", it will become "Heey**" (lets say ** are invisible), the length is now 6 just like in the word "Helloo", so they are equal, because 6 = 6
Example :
4) Still in the Replace tab, this time in the "Replace with" field, you type here your desired name the same way as above.
Let's say our name is Chris (43 00 68 00 72 00 69 00 73), we want Elvis (45 00 6C 00 76 00 69 00 73), so we put "45 00 6C 00 76 00 69 00 73" in this field. This is an example, put your own values. Add nullbytes if needed, don't forget what I said in the spoiler.
5) Set the datatype as "Hex-values", Check "All" for the search direction, uncheck "Prompt on replace", then click "Replace all"
6) ???????
7) Profit
It's the same process if you want to do it for the town name.
Hope you get it and excuse me if my English is not perfect, it's not my mother tongue
Is there a way to spawn partially grown saplings? I'm trying to create a sort of fence to make a garden area and was hoping to use the small tree stumps to do it but I need the hack to spawn them without gaps
We are also still missing some items/flags in the list. If you find a ? icon in the editor, please post it here along the exact item description you've found.
