My favorite planet is Uranus. Long time ago massive objects almost destroyed Uranus and has never fully recovered.

what do you like about Space. Post some space facts!

i don't like how people are destroying our planet with plastics, fossil fuel and such. keep the planet clean its not Uranus.

Long time ago earth was crashed into by a massive object (it became the moon afterwards). Earth seems to have a filthy human infestation these days but they will die off soon enough to give way to a glorious robot AI.

At this rate, humans will die before they create that A.I. which destroys us. I'm sad to say.

or they are a mod on gaming forum, learning how the human thinks, waiting for the right time.

SO HUMAN MOVE TO URANUS BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Either way it's not like the universe will lose much. There's always time and space for more civilizations.

Good news:

We get a new home soon....

31 light-years away, researchers are discovering three new planets - one possibly habitable

An international team of astronomers has detected three planets outside our solar system, one of which may be habitable. The group, including Göttingen researchers, presents the exoplanets in the journal "Astronomy & Astrophysics".

The planetary trio circles the star named GJ 357 in the 31 light-years distant constellation Hydra, which is comparatively close to us. A light year is the distance the light travels in a year. Our home galaxy, the Milky Way, has a diameter of about 100,000 light years.

The first observation was made in February with cameras from the Nasa Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). The researchers discovered the exoplanet GJ 357 b, because it partially covers the star in its orbit and thereby attenuates its light. "We refer to GJ 357 b as a so-called hot earth," explains co-author Stefan Dreizler from the Institute of Astrophysics at the University of Göttingen. He has a calculated temperature of around 250 degrees Celsius.

Universe level. Probably.

Far shorter distances. That is more of a debate.

On earth if fossil fuels are required to achieve certain milestones within technological development (and the ease of use vs energy density means much) then the amount of time they take to form means that if humans went extinct tomorrow then by the time such fuels reformed in suitable amounts the sun would probably have cooked the earth.

Looking around the universe we have to wonder about the so called great filters. This is to say how likely are certain events in the path from inert chemicals to life to intelligent life (possibly a few steps in between that with things like how likely is mitochondria or an equivalent thereof to happen) to intelligent spacefaring life
