Sources claim Konami is working on a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, new Silent Hill, Castlevania reboot

Konami was once one of the most beloved video game publishers, home to blockbuster franchises like Castlevania, Metal Gear, and Silent Hill. In recent years, however, the company has been content to sit on its IPs while raking in cash through casino and mobile games. Losing Hideo Kojima following the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, along with the dramatic removal of PT from the PlayStation Store as well as the cancellation of the working title Silent Hills was yet another disappointment to fans. The idea that Konami would one day return to form has been a fantasy of many for years, but for once, there might be a little substance to the idea.

Video Games Chronicle is no stranger to reporting on rumors, having a solid track record of leaking insider information and just as much of a reputation for news that went absolutely nowhere. In the past, they've accurately reported on the existence of what would become Super Mario 3D All-Stars months before it was revealed, were among the first to leak that Horizon Forbidden West would be delayed, but were also highly certain of both The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD both coming to the Nintendo Switch prior to the end of 2021, which does not appear to be the case.

Now, VGC has come forward, saying it has multiple insider, anonymous sources claiming that Konami has big plans for the future. These claims include the existence of a brand new Castlevania title, which would be a "reimagining" of the series. Another source says that a remake of a Metal Gear Solid game is in the works, though it will not involve studio Bluepoint Games, nor will it be the first entry as other rumors have stated. Rather, the project is supposedly a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, with Virtuos, the team behind the Nintendo Switch versions of Dark Souls Remastered, The Outer Worlds, and The BioShock Collection in charge. VGC also believes that a more general remaster of the original Metal Gear Solid games is in the works for modern consoles. similar to 2011's Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

Following up on a report VGC made at the start of the year, there's also a new Silent Hill game in the works--in fact, there are "multiple" ones in development. Supposedly one of the titles is being made by "a prominent Japanese developer", though they've also claimed that The Medium developers Bloober Team could also possibly be working on another Silent Hill game as well.

Yeah, anything in the current era with the promise of "Konami" on it is going to be highly suspect from anyone anymore. They have done such a massive disservice to their fans and to the potential for what we could have had, they lost any potential good will in any form and will continue to do so until the levels of management in control of the company are replaced with those who actually can be trusted with the name and bring it back to its glory.

Plus really, a new Silent Hill? After tossing out the previous game development? Oh hell no. You are not going to win anyone over doing that now. Canning Silent Hills in its potential was probably the most bitter pill to swallow in this whole mess. You are not going to bury that memory anytime soon.

I have not the slightest hope with Silent Hill, most fans seem to forget that since the fourth game everything was disappointment with the saga is no coincidence that this decline began when the Silent team disappeared, why now would it be different?
It is a fact that even if the rumors are true we will no longer have an installment on par with the original trilogy, most likely we will get a RE4 or RE8 with Silent Hill skin.

I find it funny, how much Nintendo "flavor" you brought into a Konami news thread. You're very invested with Nintendo, my friend.

But I have to agree to certain degree about that lazy remake pandemic. Though it's stupid to call the devs/publishers lazy, because they are just companies that have a main goal, and that goal is making as much money as possible. So we only can blame them partially for this. The main actor to blame for those lazy soulless remasters/remakes is the consumer that still buys their product. Radical fanboyism is an illness in my opinion. And more and more people are getting infected. That's a troublesome development, since we're not getting a vaccine for that.
Exactly, sure maybe ott with nintendo, but this is exsctly why they do what they do.

The fanboys blindly buy into it everytime and then make excuses and defend.

Yet when its others theyd have a different tone.

But im sure above there is plenty of proof of nintendo fans jumping to defend, ive just ignored, because they dont like an opinion based on personal facts and try force their personal opinion and demand i am wrong.

But then that same logic if applied means everyon must love the kardashians crap on tv.

i dont mind the odd remake of a game if they're actually going to make something better, not just port the same shit, the switch is a cnut for it, its as bad as cashcom with RE4.

And they'll keep trying to port it and call it a remaster because the fans keep buying it, and this is what ruins consoles. When you buy a new console and majority of its titles is old stuff ported again, nintendo have been so lazy with the switch.

Whereas im the same regardless of the console.
