Sources claim Konami is working on a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, new Silent Hill, Castlevania reboot

bigboss610.jpg

Konami was once one of the most beloved video game publishers, home to blockbuster franchises like Castlevania, Metal Gear, and Silent Hill. In recent years, however, the company has been content to sit on its IPs while raking in cash through casino and mobile games. Losing Hideo Kojima following the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, along with the dramatic removal of PT from the PlayStation Store as well as the cancellation of the working title Silent Hills was yet another disappointment to fans. The idea that Konami would one day return to form has been a fantasy of many for years, but for once, there might be a little substance to the idea.

Video Games Chronicle is no stranger to reporting on rumors, having a solid track record of leaking insider information and just as much of a reputation for news that went absolutely nowhere. In the past, they've accurately reported on the existence of what would become Super Mario 3D All-Stars months before it was revealed, were among the first to leak that Horizon Forbidden West would be delayed, but were also highly certain of both The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD both coming to the Nintendo Switch prior to the end of 2021, which does not appear to be the case.

Now, VGC has come forward, saying it has multiple insider, anonymous sources claiming that Konami has big plans for the future. These claims include the existence of a brand new Castlevania title, which would be a "reimagining" of the series. Another source says that a remake of a Metal Gear Solid game is in the works, though it will not involve studio Bluepoint Games, nor will it be the first entry as other rumors have stated. Rather, the project is supposedly a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, with Virtuos, the team behind the Nintendo Switch versions of Dark Souls Remastered, The Outer Worlds, and The BioShock Collection in charge. VGC also believes that a more general remaster of the original Metal Gear Solid games is in the works for modern consoles. similar to 2011's Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

Following up on a report VGC made at the start of the year, there's also a new Silent Hill game in the works--in fact, there are "multiple" ones in development. Supposedly one of the titles is being made by "a prominent Japanese developer", though they've also claimed that The Medium developers Bloober Team could also possibly be working on another Silent Hill game as well.

I don't see the point in "remaking" mgs3, it was a good game at its time, but do we really need a remake of snake running from map a to b avoiding enemies then facing a boss, then going from here to there and face another boss.

I played it again recently and i didnt notice until then that it really is very basic, you go through a few maps and all the bosses are lines up waiting to die.

And as for zelda, its no shit that yet again nintendo will be lazy and port more of its old games, not that i was a fan of either ww and tp as they both got boring, botw gkt boring within the first hour.

I hope they dont port the wii u version of ww, its over use of bloom effecf was terrible, if they're going to port, then i hope its the pube version.

Tho i wouldn't pay for them as i already own them, i don't see the point in buying a new console to play and pay full price again for games i already own.

Nintendont are getting as bad as cashcom, lets see how many times we can get away with porting the same old shit.

Tho saying that, nintendo games rarely change, its always the same shit rehashed and recycled.

Mario bros
Mario
Zelda
Kirby
Pikmin
Pokemon
Luigi manshion
Smash brothers
Mario kart
Metroid (tho its fps by another company is yet to be seen, never know, if Nintendont give them freedom, it could end up not been the same shit recycled)
Mario "insert activity", just waiting on fucking football.
Mario party

With nintendo its the same shit, very little difference, or if it does (botw) it's a very shit attempt at doing what others have already done.

Now sit back and wait for the loyal Nintendont fanboys to rush in defence of their beloved Nintendont and try tell me i am wrong for why i dislike buying the same old recycled shit and ports of games i already own.

The excuse of it been portible is irrelevant to me as i dont game on the bus or train.

Then the, ohh but what if you "missed" it first time, whicn again is another fanboy in denial, if you didn't buy it back then, then why would you now pay nearly £200 for a console and full price for a game, you could pay £5-10 on a console you already own.

I just know for a fact with them phasing out the 3ds, the switch will be its replacement as they will need a new console to remain in the market with the ps5/SX coming out, in order to keep the so called "third party" support.

But what we will get is yet again, nintendont promise better third party support, but they will restrict this by releasing again inferior hardware with bs gimmicks, cutting their costs but fooling the sheep theyre getting something great.

When what you're getting is a sunlar ps4/xbx1 with some new bs gimmicks to make it sound better than what it is.

And then commence nintendonts "better" third party support in that third party devs port all its ps4/xbx1 titles they didnt get when its titles was new.

But it will still fail to get all the new titles that the next gens are getting.

For proof, look at how the wii u failed, devs was done with fhe last gen hardware and didnt want to pay a separate dev studio to develop said game solely for nintendont as they learned it doesnt bring in the return, as shown on the wii m, when devs tried to make a version just for the wii, that soon ended.

All nintendont care about is making sure they have the gimmicks to make its inferior hardware sell and they do so, to dominate the market in that third parties are put off paying a dedicated team to make an inferior port of its new title to run on old inferior hardware.

Thus leaving the playing field open to nintendonts same old recycled titles, dominating the market.

But its devoted sheep are happy to keep rebuying the same shit and call people out as been wrong when it's all there in front of you, been the case since the cube.

Now this is a gamer who started off as nintendont been his only console in the house.

But nintendont are too ignorant to see how the gaming industry has changed, all they see is how can we profit by spending less.

I know..... tablets, kids are loving tablets, lets make a tablet console, they failed first timr, only succeed 2nd time thanks to copying nvidia shield.

But the switch has ended up been a port wh0re and shitty indy apps you'd normally get for free on other devices, but pay full whack for because its nintendont.

But anyway sit back and watch it happen, i remember the fanboys quoting me before the switch came out, about if becoming a port wh0re, and look at it, even dating back to ps2 that they missed out on.

So enjoy your "4k" nintendont console, which won't be a switch, it'll be a new inferior console likely tied to support the seitch.

Now try hold back fanboys, we all know this post is goijg to upset you, but your going to be quoting a guy who has been playing nintendont from day one, while most of you was still in your dads nutsack.

I dont care if you are a beloved fan and want to try demand i am wrong, all i can say tell me all these ports do not exist.

Night all.
what the hell? so every company can make remakes/remasters but not nintendo? also wind waker and twilight princess are preety damn expensive even used, an actual new release would be way cheaper than buying a wiiu and the games or even a gc and the games for sure.

All your posts are the exact same copy past, why dont you just stay with microsoft and sony and leavue nintendo alone really? its better for you since you hate it so much i see no point even caring about it, i dont like xbox and i dont buy one, but i dont go on a rant on every xbox related news to say what i dislike about it, but you seems to have a love/hate relation with nintendo and need to repost it on every thread that even has a related nintendo news even if its a rumour...

I find it funny, how much Nintendo "flavor" you brought into a Konami news thread. You're very invested with Nintendo, my friend.

But I have to agree to certain degree about that lazy remake pandemic. Though it's stupid to call the devs/publishers lazy, because they are just companies that have a main goal, and that goal is making as much money as possible. So we only can blame them partially for this. The main actor to blame for those lazy soulless remasters/remakes is the consumer that still buys their product. Radical fanboyism is an illness in my opinion. And more and more people are getting infected. That's a troublesome development, since we're not getting a vaccine for that.

As much as I love Konami's IP, I'm still on the fence on their company direction especially with their recent game releases. They're just milking their franchises through remaster (which I don't mind since I'm a sucker for it), mobile gaming (gambling mechanics? ew!), etc. I'm still looking forward for this release though as I am a fan of MGS. I haven't seen or heard any major AAA releases from Konami since then, it would've been a surprise if they announced it in TGS. Then again, it's the direction their company is taking - more on mobile, arcade, pachinko, etc.

I really hope this is one of the times where VGC is right. I'm hesitant to think Konami can make a good Castlevania, but I am so down for a slightly modernized version of MGS1.

I'd rather want a remake of the first three clock tower games from the snes and the ps1 and upgrade their controls by using analog control or d pad movement instead of mouse point and click controls, it would be much more thrilling being chased by scissorman and George Maxwell in super high res graphics with 4k display.

- I think Metal Gear Solid 3 is still a pretty solid game despite it's age, no need for a remake just yet. If they're going to remake games, remake some of the old nes games like Wai Wai World 2 and Snake's Revenge for christ sakes.

Snake's revenge isn't canon, so it's very unlikely. But then again, neither is the post-Kojima stuff.

Sure. Go ahead Konami. If you fuck it up i can always just play the 360 version of MGS3 on XBO/XSX.
As for Castlevania i have 0 expectations. If its anything but 2D metroidvania i'll have 0 interest.

Yeah but it depends on how good to devs are that's making it. Without Kojima I don't have much faith.
i believe u guys smoke too much mind pipe, The kojima era has long gone and his game is overrated, just look at Death stranding, honestly i wouldn't buy it even it's -75%. there many newcomers with great idea, stop simping.

Almost had to ask you to repeat that in english, but I think I got it. Kojima made many great games over the years and I actually agree Death Stranding is one of his worst games but that doesn't discredit all the other games he made. That would be like if Miyamoto came out with a bad game and saying he sucks you don't know what you're talking about, Kojima has been making great games since the 80s which I assume is long before you were born. :)

as long as i remember after he left Konami 6 fking years ago, cauz his projects were overspending, he didn't make a shit beside Death stranding.......
i wouldn't put too much faith and hope in his next project.
