Gaming Soul Silver rom no longer reads save file

I used to play a Pokemon Soul Silver backup rom I had on dstwo around 5 years ago. I had started the game, created a save file and got far in the game. But towards the end, the game suddenly stopped reading the save and kept starting me from the beginning. If I run the save through PokeGen, it reads the Pokemon on the file just fine. I've tried it on emulator and the same negative results persisted.

Sounds like the save is corrupt. What and how I don't know, though likely impressive as pokemon technically has a backup it should fall back to.
Some of the editing tools do have a measure of corruption mitigation, though that obviously depends upon what is there, and ability to inject things into a new save file. Alternatively just do the new game but copy/remake the pokemon you had in the existing file (some also have that option, and will also also handle trainer numbers).
