So this game just became available via PS+ on the Vita. I'm playing it, only on the second quest, but I have to admit, the game is set up damn weird, its taking me a while to get used to things, like the equipping and attacking and such.

    Who's played/playing this?

I'm planning to start playing this, but only if Vita memory cards go on sale this Black Friday. It's painful having to delete some of my games just to get a new one.

Ya, Sony really fucked up with that. Save data should be written to the card like 3DS. And just have a normal SD card. I think that's one thing that's stopping a lot of people from picking up a Vita. Which is a shame because the Vita is insanely awesome and I've been playing it more than my 3DS. But the few faults it has are pretty big deal breakers.

Surprisingly it isn't that big of a game. I just beat Uncharted a few nights ago so I was able to delete that, but the game is only 1.8gb.

I've been playing it throughout the holidays and I'm lovin' it. The confusion is only initial, you'll quickly get the hang of it.

Long story short, collect pairs of offerings and fuse them to get more ammo, once you fuse two three-star offerings, you will get one higher tier offering. Fuse base types of offerings with elemental ones and you get new attacks - simple.

Saving and sacrificing is even easier - save for more HP, sacrifice for more attack power. Sigils will become available to you based on the souls you collected, they will give you additional bonses based on your Divine or Dark arm level, meaning the balance between saving and sarificing.

I gotta say, what I like the most are the voiceovers and the story. Clearly a lot of thought went into the lore of the game, some stories are actually pretty touching. The game plays with your emotions and I find that to be really cool.

Be sure to download all the DLC for it - it's free and subtantially expands the game.

Oh wow, didn't even know there was DLC for it.

To be honest, I think why I think it's confusing, is because I'm used to like Monster Hunter. Where you can equip your own weapons like swords/axes/spears/bows, and Triangle and O would be magic, I think that's what I was expecting.

I just did the second mission where you fight with that girl.

The offerings and sigils are really your equivalents of weapons and armor, you'll be building offerings from recipies soon enough. The Sortiara chapter is really just the beginning - once you become a certified sorcerer, the game becomes non-linear and you can pick and choose which missions you want to do first. The game is divided into chapters, each chapter being a different side story, so it's worth your time to stray away from the main quest and explore other chapters, that way it literally never gets boring.

I platinumed it the month it released and loved every minute of it!
Not sure I'll get Delta though as I don't have my platinum save file so it depends what is added or fixed and whether it's enough to play through it again.
I've also missed a ton of the free DLC as I sold my copy before they started to 'release' it.

You have to use [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] tags, remove the spaces and whatever you put in-between will be spoilered.

I would laugh my bollocks off if Capcom did go bankrupt and Sony would throw dough in their general direction to secure each and every future title to be an exclusive on their platforms. Considering how long the queues were for Monster Hunter 4, a move like this would make the PSVita explode in Japan. :tpi: The taste of 3DS/Wii U owners tears, it would be palatable.

I like the idea of Sony and Nintendo battling it out for a huge series like Monster Hunter.

As per Monster Hunter: I don't see the point since it's essentially just a "base" and a ton of games have elaborated on the idea a ton better. Core Monster Hunter is actual shit.

As for games that do Monster Hunter well... There's this game! Although it's really not perfect but it's pretty damn fun, challenging, and rewarding.

I'd say my big complaint is that the AI is absolutely terrible, like literally a sack of bricks. They'll stand and stare at an enemy while it charges at them. No dodging or anything. I also think it's a bit silly that your "upgrades" for your skills are just increased number of casts... which is only mildly useful. It's basically useless if you play a Dark character since every sacrifice nets you some casts back.

Still it's got pretty slick controls, camera could be better but compared to your typical MonHun camera it's leagues better. It's fast paced but requires thought, it's a game you can definitely master over time. There's a pretty good chunk of depth between all the skills, sigils, and so on. Also there's a ton of content on top of a ton of free DLC so it's definitely worth your money (although it's free on PS+).

I'd probably buy Delta if it came to the States.

Now I just need to buy Ys, Tearaway, and Injustice.

That's not entirely true. Fusing a pair of Offerings nets you one Offering of a higher level with more casts, however fusing a pair of Offerings of the highest level («««) nets you one offering of a higher tier which does cause more damage. Essentially there are three tiers - bronze, silver and gold Offerings, each with three levels. Higher tier equals more Damage, higher level equals more casts.

For example, two Pinwheels (S) («) will fuse into one Pinwheel (S) (««), however two Pinwheels (S) («««) will fuse into one Pinwheel (M) («). Fusing basic Offerings like this is a very easy way of getting high-tier Offerings early in the game.
