Sony updates PSP and PS3

[FAST6191]

Sony have released firmware version 6.60 for the PSP (all models- the go firmware is separate). The changelog sits at PlayStation Network "System software stability during use of some features has been improved" which is shorthand/code for we fixed a couple of bugs and blocked some fun on the custom firmware front. Naturally those using custom firmwares or intending to do so are advised to steer well clear of all such updates.[/p]

Forgot to mention a PS3 update is also in the works. Again nothing special but unlike the PSP something that might be of worth- automatic online saving (dubbed "cloud saving") for playstation plus users, a new category for internet related TV services (location dependent), a 3d photo viewer and some fixes for 3d blu ray (menu stuff and a fix for DTS-HD).[/p]

That is what I meant. Hopefully by then someone will have made a CFW for 6.60.

I have a PSP 1001. So I will wait for 6.60 ME Permanent.

i hopewhen a 6.60pro CFW is made it'll have a perm patch(also hoping popsloader updates for 6.60 CFW when its made) i have 6.20 want to update 6.39 pro(but non pperm stops me(yes im picky like that))

PS3 update does auto trophy sync too as well as some stuff ready for PSP remasters.

Everything for that PS3 update is for PSN Plus only.

As for new games on PSP requiring those firmware, it doesn't matter at all. Afterall, patches always come out to make the new games works on old cfw and this firmware won't change that.

Sony has been wasting their time on the PSP trying to prevent piracy, but fixes for new games always comes out. They can't do anything about the PSP and they never will.

As for it doing something to Final Fantasy Type-0, they'd need to announce a western release before most of us can play it. Even though it's guarenteed to come here, they still haven't announced the release date.

Glad to hear they are still supporting their platforms (especially PSP). Which is more than you can say from Nintendo, the Wii just got another hack (even easier than before) and they are just ignoring it, letting it happen. Good for us pirates of course

I was at the Playstation Store earlier after the update, didn't they add the 'recommend to your friends' thing? I'm not sure it wasn't there before but I could be wrong.

the PSP update u can tell what is going on there as they are trying to block the latest temp hack
now the ps3, is it like sony knows what is going behind the scenes with hackers (i know of two projects) so they are blocking what info they have got from internal sources or discussions (this is only a hunch)
