Do you need a phone, or just a gaming device? That makes the choice easy.

Well duh, if u want a cool phone, then buy one.
if u want a cool handheld gaming device, buy the NGP [IMG]

its like asking if u rather want to go to the movies or an all u can eat buffet..
If u wanna eat a lot at that point, do u goto the movies just for some d*mn popcorn?? [IMG]

I was going to get an Xperia Play, but since it's on Verizon(which is the last thing I expected, since Sony Ericsson has said in the past that they wouldn't make CDMA phones) I'll have to wait until another Playstation-Certified phone comes out for AT&T. :/

I really can't believe that people think the Xperia Play is comparable with the 3DS/NGP

I prefer keeping my portable gaming and phone seperate, so I'd get the NGP.

Kinda ironic that I use an iPhone though.

What the NGP offers in game play experience probably outweighs what the Xperia offers, minus the phone calling.

well, i certainly don't want to be interrupted by something that suddenly pops-up(call or text notification) while in the middle of a boss fight. it might be important but i'd rather receive my call from another device. so that i can safely pause my game and won't be surprised by the sudden interruption.

Phone is so last gen and outdated if you compare it to handhelds. I don't need a fancy phone so I'll keep using cheap ones and buy portables. NGP FTW!

I always thought the Xperia Play was a silly product, considering you can just buy a PSP for $100 and that'll play almost any PSX game fine.

    NGP for me.

    Unnecessary choice. Buy both.

A truly mobile gamer needs both, a cellphone and a handheld console. If your phone happens to have a gamepad and good hardware that allows you to play even more games, it's all for the better.

Not only that, but a duo like this will allow you to tether the s*it out of your Xperia Play as you're playing on your NGP/3DS online. No longer will you be confined to your gaming groto with your handheld - become a walking hotspot.

    Isn't THAT a good deal?

I'm definitely going to have to go with the Vita on this one.
