Sony has delisted Horizon Zero Dawn for PC, with remaster now requiring PSN account to play

header (1).jpg

A little under four years after its PC port, and PlayStation has delisted Horizon Zero Dawn. That's because Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will soon take its place, with the original game now unavailable to purchase on either Steam or the Epic Games Store. The upcoming remaster of the game will be out on October 31st, meaning those who didn't grab the game before it left digital storefronts won't have long to wait, however, the new release will feature a mandatory PlayStation Network account requirement--something that the original did not. This has been a controversial sticking point for most of PlayStation's PC ports, with most of their library, including single-player titles such as God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn needing players to have a PSN account to link, even if they're only interested in playing on PC.

For those that live in countries where they're unable to create a PSN account, or want to have an offline copy of the game, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition is still being sold on GOG.

Sony is just lucky that Microsoft is run by fucking retards.
That time where Microsoft tried making the first XBOX One always-online really is an incident they never recovered from, and that's almost a decade ago at this point.

Sony sadly doesn't have the brightest minds at the helm either at the moment, and they seem to be mighty interested in heading where Microsoft sunk their ship almost a decade ago. Let's see what treasures they'll find over at XBOX's graveyard (or business-fatal diseases, rather).

I don't think Nintendo wants to give up their spot any time soon. Sony is doing rookie moves compared to Nintendo trying to even out- anti-consumer Apple. So yeah nah, Nintendo still definitely holds #1 in the gaming industry by a long shot, but Sony seems to be trying to immitate Shitendo.
sony literally doubled the price of hzd on psn after the remaster announcement to gouge interested customers

My advice - don't buy remasters and Sony realizes that remaster version flopped, along with bad publicity, Sony isn't going to do this again like we won to tank Concord that lead Sony to delist and kill the game permanently.

Delisted the old one so people would be forced to purchase the new one, that incidentally also now requires a PSN acct., effectively locking out people in certain regions from even buying it anymore
No, if you buy game on Steam prior to delist of original version, you keep original version in your library unless Sony voluntarily upgrade to remaster version at no charge.

This decision affect new customers, not previous purchases.

I'm good w/ the original Horizon Zero Dawn that I purchased last year. Sony can go shove it up where the sun don't shine if they expect me to buy a "remaster" of that same game over again which nobody asked for if I might add, lmao 🤣🤣🤣.

This is the Sony I know (the reason I left them years ago and never looked back).

Why are so many of these corporations self destructive?

So it's a choice between Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, how poor of a choice is that?

Theyre all 3 shitty Microsoft is no better. They started the whole make you pay to play online garbage, RROD and the first digital only console at the same time theyre like the richest company in the world they can literally buy certain countries.
Agreed, I got Xbox 360 first in 2006 (got PS3 in 2007) and after disappointing news about Xbox One, so I got PS4 at Walmart on launch day in 2013 and later, I got Xbox One in 2014 because I wanted to play Dead Rising 3 really bad, so it was months before I know about come to PC.

Xbox One was $500 because of Kinect and MS decided to dump Kinect for good. What's useless technology, lol.

I haven't get PS5 nor Xbox Series X because I'm big into PC and Switch. Now, I'm planning to get PS5 for Christmas, along with FF7 Rebirth, Ronin and Spiderman 2.

I personally prefer Forza over Gran Turismo because Forza has free play aka arcade mode, so GT killed arcade mode long ago (they started to have less tracks and less cars in GT5).

and de-listing the original shows that they're aware of that.
Not necessarily. It's common practice. They want to sell the newer one for extra or simply cut support on the old (or add data collection), so they take out the old version.

I can remember Dragon Quest XI S, where it is a fundamental different release from XI, made in a different Unreal version. It has better lighting, particle and water effects, but worse textures and a lot of simplified models like, trees, less elements like grass and foliage. It was needed because the game had to be ported to a newer version of Unreal for switch and it was the only way to port the new content for the other platforms. Albeit there was still a case for chosing the original version over the S for many people, they just gone ahead and delisted it to stop allocating resources and supporting the older one.

It seems to me that PSN is optional.

Link your Steam account with your account for PlayStation™Network and unlock two in-game items while your accounts are linked:
  • Nora Legacy Outfit.
  • Nora Legacy Spear.

The problem is the weakness of Microsoft / Xbox, which makes Sony arrogant. When you are so more successful than your competition, your ego is so big that you only shit on others. Xbox needs to become strong again so that balance can be achieved

Looks like they've pulled a Sega and still allow you to get the original, but only if you buy the remaster.

Link your Steam account with your account for PlayStation™Network and unlock two in-game items while your accounts are linked:

On the remastered page:
Requires 3rd-Party Account: PlayStation Network (Supports Linking to Steam Account)

PS5 has no games and when they're making pointless remastered slops for games that were already slop to begin with, they still bless us with it, with the nice price tag that comes along.

Thanks Sony but no thanks. Good thing that Helldivers 2 is run by Europeans, they have the decency to spray the game with some Febreze so we don't smell your ass.
