"Sony Corp. (6758) halted operations at six factories in the Tohoku region of northeastern Japan after an earthquake, said Yasuhiro Okada, a spokesman at the Tokyo-based company."

"All employees at the factories have been evacuated, he said. The company is assessing the fallout from power outages and damages to buildings, he said."

"One factory making Blu-ray discs and magnetic tapes in Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture, had its ground floor flooded, said Shinji Obana, another Sony spokesman."[/p]

Jesus, I may hate Sony as a company, but at heart we're all human. This is bad. Not just the "Oh shit!" bad, but the bad that keeps on being bad... BAAAAAADDD! Hope everyone affected by this disaster are coping.

How about Square E. people? I am sure they can get back on their feet since they;re like 2nd richest country on earth. They probably wouldn't need any much help (financially?) except rescue operations and other stuff.
    Warning: Spoilers inside!

I found out from my wife's father that the Honda plant (main distribution one) has been all but knocked down by the waves. What makes it worse for them is the fact that that's where they make the parts for all the vehicles at.

Yeah, I am sure those 30,000 people who lost their jobs the other day, who I am sure a lot of them are Japanese citizens, now have to clean up and rebuild their lives such a short time after losing their jobs.

Production isn't done in japan, usually it's in china. There shouldn't be any delay.

I might detest Sony as a corporate body, but at least I'm human.

It's good to see no one was badly hurt, and I'm glad Sony finally managed to do something smart.
