PS fanboys are very stupid. They live for paid DLC. If a game comes on a disc that is complete - it will not sell. It must have the option to BUY new shit. Millions of them will think this is 'awesome'.
Sony know this, and capitalone know sony knows this.
sony playstation survives on rich stupid people.
Nintendo know most people are clever. If they get this SHIT mostly for free, they buy more games. Nintendo credit card eshop and dsiware purchases are per item and no credit card info is ever saved. =safe =more people are happier to use it.

these opinions are mine alone.

Oh wait, can I buy PS3 games (exclusives/top tier) for around 15-20$ each? Yes I can. Can I do the same with Nintendo Products? Nope, Zelda still costs 40$+ after several years. Also inb4 needing a credit card for PSN purchases... You do know that there are gift cards that don't require any sort of credit card or whatsoever to use? These are all alternative possibilities for paying. Instead of lets say just Nintendo points.

How many of you people actually own a Credit Card to make it possible to say something about using one? Also is it only me or do people not know that the interest rates don't add to the total if you pay the credit before the end of the month? Or do people honestly pay excessively with a credit card? Also do note that Sony is not a bank and doesn't do banking. This is a Capital One card, not a Sony card. A bank being hacked = someone else is the cause of this than Sony and most likely not that many Sony customers would be affected vs the bank's clients. I'd be more worried about the rest of them.

Go for trolling..

The Playstation credit card is a very old thing. The original way to get it required an intended purchase of a ps3 from a site sony used to have set up. If you got approved for the card, the ps3 would get charged to it instantly. The ONLY changes are now everyone can get one and they don't require a PS3 purchase with it.

As stated earlier, the interests rates are high, but there's a reason behind this - it's a PLAYSTATION Credit Card, it's supposed to be used to buy PLAYSTATION products. You "put some money" on your CC, buy sh*t, put more money on your CC while your everyday CC isn't anywhere near the damn PS3 which happens to be a target for hackers from all around the world.
The thing is though, are your really going to spend $5000 on just PLAYSTATION products? All for points worth $50? And even if you used this credit card for just PSN purchases, you would still have to give your personal information. So in case of a security breach, your bank info would still be compromised (though I believe Sony learned their lesson about security and the chances of another disaster is pretty slim).

Sony wants people to use this as their everyday card, not just for PS purchases. Pretty good idea racking up points for paying everyday expenses which can be used to buy games, only downside is the higher interest rates.

Personally I don't find it useful to own a PlayStation specific credit card unless you are entitled to some benefits.

Do not want, I doubt Sony learned their lesson too well, the CC info is in plain text, plus could I use that for JP PSN, most likely no. Plus they are so trying to but young people into debt.

If it is just on playstation products, then it will be much less, if the first post is correct. You get 10x points for PSN purchases, so you only need to spend 500$ on the PSN. If you are buying from a Sony store, sony.com, or are going to quick service restaurants, movie theaters, or paying mobile phone bills, you will need to spend $1666.67 to get the 50$ psn card.

That averages out to about only needing to spend around $1000 to get the 50$ psn card, still a lot, but much less than $5000

It's just like any other specialty card, like a Home Depot credit card or whatever, except you gain bonus points for the PSN instead of on Home Depot products or whatever.

Why are you all fucking crying? It's a credit card with a bonus on it, you don't have to buy it.

Seriously, people are just being fucking little bitches about anything with "Sony" rubber stamped on it.

For some reason, I find this statement ironic.
(If that the right word for it)

There's a difference between complaining about a legitimate complaint and complaining about a fucking credit that's completely optional and only gives you some benefits if you're a PSN user. It certainly isn't "ironic" when people start shouting at me for complaining about "dumb accessories" and the same people get up in arms over a credit card.

I applied so I could build credit, but even by lying about how much I make I still don't get approved. Apparently I don't earn enough money to be approved for any credit card. Doesn't help when I need to build credit. Doesn't help when you have no credit either.

I have to agree. The way I see it, Sony's giving you a golden opportunity to get something "free" as long as you're buying their products. Doesn't have to be a whole lot, and the interest rates will be minimal if you pay your debt quickly, while the points remain. It's really as simple as that.

I'm no genius here lads but I imagine this to be merely a Playstation branded Capitol One card. With Capitol One doing the credit card stuff.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and agree with you for once. Since Sony isn't one of the more likable companies, I'm sure that this will make Capital One credit a future target.
