You might think that the last thing Sony wanted to remind you about when talking about the PSN was credit cards. But instead, Sony has revealed a ‘PlayStation Card’ in conjunction with Capital One.

The US card will earn you points on any purchase you make, which can be redeemed for PlayStation games, accessories, and PlayStation Network content, as well as certain other Sony products.
The amount of points you earn depends on what you buy, with 1 point earned per $1 spent and then given multiplier bonuses:
  • 10x points on PSN purchases (including movies and rentals)
  • 3x points on PlayStation and Sony purchases at Sony stores and Sony.com
  • 3x points at quick service restaurants, movie theaters, and mobile phone bills
  • 1x points on all other purchases
5,000 points will earn you $50 on the PlayStation Network, games ‘start’ at 2,000 points and PlayStation hardware ‘starts’ at 1,500 points.
You’ll also earn a $50 PlayStation Network code after your first purchase with the PlayStation Card. There is no annual fee, and 0% intro APR on purchases until September 2012. After that there’s a variable rate between 13.9% and 24.9% – which is above the average of 15-19%. To find out more details, and apply, go here.
It’s by no means the best credit card you can get, and we wouldn’t recommend using it as your main credit card. However, if you have a good credit history, it’s a nice opportunity to get a few games for free.

And then their databases get hacked and people find out that Sony stored all their credit-card information in plain-text.

Does this allow Sony to see all your purchases? :tpi:

Wouldn't it be easier to make something similar to Club Nintendo( and just use the internet passes codes? :tpi:)

Should be less info leak if hacked. :P

knowing sony, the back of the card will have a scratch off with the cardholder's pin number.

sony tech 1: r u sure this is enough to protect users' information?
sony tech 2: what r u talking about? no one can get through such a hi-tech security system--no one!

What The Fuck is what i first thought, only an idiot with a lot of money would get this. The interest rates are insane, you might as well get a regular credit card and the buy games with the money you save by not having a playstation credit card.

*Claps* inb4MoronsWhoDon'tEvenHaveASonyProductYetMoanAboutTheirSecurityOhWaitThey'reAlreadyHere this is the exact move that I expected them to do - a Credit Card that will not only have limited assets in case of another system breach, a card that will also "generate" free points as you use it.

As stated earlier, the interests rates are high, but there's a reason behind this - it's a PLAYSTATION Credit Card, it's supposed to be used to buy PLAYSTATION products. You "put some money" on your CC, buy sh*t, put more money on your CC while your everyday CC isn't anywhere near the damn PS3 which happens to be a target for hackers from all around the world.

PS fanboys are very stupid. They live for paid DLC. If a game comes on a disc that is complete - it will not sell. It must have the option to BUY new shit. Millions of them will think this is 'awesome'.
Sony know this, and capitalone know sony knows this.
sony playstation survives on rich stupid people.
Nintendo know most people are clever. If they get this SHIT mostly for free, they buy more games. Nintendo credit card eshop and dsiware purchases are per item and no credit card info is ever saved. =safe =more people are happier to use it.

these opinions are mine alone.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
You should update the 360 to newest dash before RGHing it yes. But not a big deal if you don't, you can install new dash/avatar updates after. It's just easier to do it auto online before, instead manual offline after.

@BigOnYa I wanted to ask you about your experience with seeing south park. Most of the people a bit younger like my younger brother and cousins that are a few younger than me that saw kids found south park funny because of the curse words, kids at school, that seemed like liking the show on a very basic level.

I could not quite have a in depth discussion of the show.

How was it for you? As an adult. What did you find the most interesting part about it. Did you relate to the parents of the kids and their situations. Was it satires, the commentary on society. The references on celebrities' and pop culture.

I remember seeing the very first episode back in the day, and have watched every episode since. I used to set my VCR to record them even, shows how long ago.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just like any comedies really, and cartoons have always been a favorite of mine. Family guy, American Dad, Futurama, Cleveland Show, Simpsons - I like them all.

South Park is great cause they always touch on relavent issues going on today, and make something funny out of it.

  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa were you always up to date on the current events and issues of the time or were there issues that you first found out thru south park
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Most of the time yea I knew, I watch and read the news regularly, but sometimes the Hollywood BS stuff, like concerning actors slip by me. I don't follow most Hollywood BS (example: the Kardasians)

  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa there were relevant issues before south park was made, that's why i think a south park prequel/spinoff would be great. Randy and his friends in their child hood

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, like them running in high school together, getting into stuff, and how they got hitched and had kids. And how the town of South Park was back then compared to now. That would be cool to see.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
    yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@salazarcosplay if they made a prequel, it would still be about current issues, cause it doesn't make sense to make it about stuff that happened 30 years ago that nobody cares about anymore
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's too late
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the older south park episodes about particular issues usually age poorly since the topic is no longer relevant
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
an exception is giant douche vs turd sandwich, that's always relevant :P
