Hacking Someone want to explain this to me?

My acekard 2 arrived today. Online I had selected that I wanted shoptemp to do it's pre-packaged OS and homebrew set up. Sure enough, it came bundled with some neat apps like facebook for DS. I noticed the top said AKAIO 1.6. That's weird, I thought 1.7.1 was out. Anyway, I tested out the facebook app and it worked, so I went on to put my Pokemon White game into the games folder (english patched). I got past the intro and then got black screened. From what I've seen this is a pretty standard problem. I figured I'd try and update to akaio 1.7.1 so I went to http://www.akaio.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=557&f=8 and did so (I wasn't quite sure what to do, but it looked like I needed to replace the _aio folder in the root, so that's what I did. Now, I can't launch ANYTHING. Not white, not facebook, nothing.

What happen? Did I maybe DL the 2i version? I didn't see separate links.

edit: I got a Kingston 2GB SD from shoptemp for use with the acekard

You need to replace the akmenu4.nds as well. This goes for every future update, you must overwrite both the akmenu4.nds and the __aio folder.

Okay thanks to both of you, I just tried Soul Silver (as a test) and it boots and works past the intro. Now I've tried white and I got the same problem. I've read that Kingston 2GB is crap. If I were to go to target/best buy tomorrow and get a different card, what would be my absolute best bet for running B/W?

I think you should contact Costello and let him know, Shoptemp's service is there for people who aren't good at doing these things themselves.
They're aware of the recent Wood R4 firmware update though, chances are they may also report on the upcoming AKAIO 1.8.0 update.

There is no way to determine on the box whether or not the card is able to play B/W. It doesn't have to with capacity, brand, or class. It has to do with the random access speed controller and how lenient it is in order for it to let the data to flow. There seems to be a trend that which cards from Japan or lower in capacity have no problem playing the game while other cards of higher capacity or are from Taiwan are unable to get past the professor's speech. I believe this issue has been fixed in AKAIO 1.8 which is supposed to be released "soon".

Yeah, I told Shoptemp to do the flash thing on the Micro SDHC. And they updated to AKAIO 1.6. It's pretty easy to update it to 1.7 though.
