I am attempting to edit the French version of the games so that they have the English names for the Pokémon instead of the French ones.
However, I've been searching and cannot find anything that would help me do this (I don't mind hex editing if I know what's going on.)
    Any ideas?

used japanese version, is have dual language... Pokemon E/U/K/D/S/ect is just single language only, if you want dual language active you just edit on HEX (checking on overlay file), all setting in overlay ....

you can compare overlay file on J or U .... you will found something ... don't trying replace a/0/0/2 and a/0/0/3 from Japan to E/U is will freeze in some point.

    No.
I'm attempting to edit the Pokémon's names.
Nothing to do with having two languages in one game.

Why not just... play the English version?

The pokemon names are in the same place the rest of the text is. http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=48300.0

You'll wanna extract all the entries to a file and then ctrl+f to find what you're looking for. From there you can just overwrite that specific file with the english version.
