Hacking [SOLVED] Mario Kart Wii *Blank Screen / Lock up* problem

Ok. I got it sorted out. You will need the following programs/files.

- WuM (Wii Update Manager) *Google it. It is easy to find*
- A raw dump of 3.1J_V2/3.1U_V2 (Depends on which region your Wii is from)

1) Place the raw dump of 3.1J_V2/3.1U_V2 in a folder call "dumps". The folder is created when you first launch WuM.
2) Open up the UNMODIFIED ISO of Mario Kart Wii with WuM.
3) Click "READ INFOS".
4) Click "ANALYZE RISK". It will probably tell you that you need to brickblock it because its from a different region.
5) Under "Replace with". Select your region's update. Either 3.1J_V2 or 3.1U_V2.
6) Click "REPLACE". *DO NOT BRICK BLOCK IT!*
7) Just to be safe, reload the ISO you just MODIFIED and click "READ INFOS" and "ANALYZE RISK". This time, it should say that it is safe because the update is the same region as your Wii.
7.5) Some of you may need to RegionFrii it. (I did not do this step therefore I am not sure if it will affect the overall outcome.)
8) Burn the MODIFIED ISO.
9) Insert into your Wii. It will prompt for an update. LET IT UPDATE. IT IS SAFE because you have already switched the UPDATE with the UPDATE of your region! Therefore be VERY SURE you replace it with the update of your Wii region.
10) After finishing the update, load Mario Kart Wii from channel... Everything should load fine and you are ready to go =)

Tested with Jap Wii running firmware 3.2J. D2CKey.

But it works.
If you had WBBlocked your iso, just use Wii Update Manager, grap any game that have updates from any region ( Mario Galaxy, Metroid, Mario Strikers) and replace the update with the one provided by donchen

I have a Jap Wii with Wiikey.

I have the SSBB update and can play that game without problems.

Do I need to go through this process?

I'm downloading the Pal release of mario kart. I read in another thread that I just need to use brickblocker and regionfrii then I'm good to go.

Is that correct?

SSBB NTSC-J comes with this update.

So I THINK I have 2 choices:

1-D/L the SSBJP and simply run it this should then 'update' my f/w then MK will run? UPDATE: Got this but it's password protected :-0

UPDATE: Success I ran the update from SSBJP and then the previous MK discs I had burnt all ran flawlessly :-)

Sorry to all that I did not really explain what exactly went wrong when the screen goes blank/black.

Most of the users that experience this problem was due the the fact that they did not update their Wii through some games that has 3.1J_V2 or 3.1U_V2. One of the most popular game that has this update was SSBB.

As most of the people here played SSBB therefore most of them has the update installed and does not have any problems with Mario Kart Wii.

Solution 1
If you played SSBB before, then you should have no problems playing Mario Kart Wii.
If you have SSBB of your region, let it update and Mario Kart Wii should work fine.

Solution 2
Download JUST the dump of the update and replace it with WuM. See first post for more details.

So it is safe. As long as you replace it with the update with the same region as your Wii, you are fine.

I got it from the torrent, it is slow but it's probably the best way at the mo, I only have a cr@p u/l pipe so cant u/l it, there are a few more people jumping on it now so it's really your best bet.

There are sooo many MKWii torrents out there with plenty of seeds.
Also is there any [GBATemp] MarioKartWii torrent and you ask for seeds?
I think that you are asking for seeds in wrong place.
