Usually it takes me about an hour to completely softmod any Wii. A friend wanted me to softmod his wii, so he could play backups from usb. I had no problems installing everything, but usb-loading still wouldn't work.

    I installed the following:
    Hermes cIOS202 v5 (base 57)
    Hermes cIOS222 v5 (base 38)
    Hermes cIOS223 v5 (base 37)
    Hermes cIOS224 v5 (base 57)
    Waninkoko cIOS249/250 r19 (base 57)
    USB-Loader GX r929
    (I also tried USB-Loader GX r874, r914, r921 and CFG-Loader.)

After I tried everything I could imagine, I ran USB Device Analyzer v1.1 on both our Wiis using the same usb-drives and found out his Wii didn't regognize any of my usb-drives.

Could someone please tell me if his usb-port is definitely broken or if this problem could be fixed with software?

    His log (usb doesn't work):
    CODEUSB2 device test program. v1.1

I really hope you are using the right usb port, you didn't hint anywhere you tried both usb ports. One of the USB ports is reserved for games that require a usb plugin, the other port is for harddrives for homebrew stuff.

"Lower port for usb-drive, upper port for other devices." is what I said to about 50 people whose Wiis I modded before this one. I'm absolutely sure I used the right port. ^^

This may sound funny, but it might be the cIOS versions. I've seen wiis that can't run the new cIOSX series cIOSes (18 and 19)...I have one. [IMG]

Try cIOS38 rev17 and Hermes v4. If they don't work, the port is probably faulty.

    I also tried those now:
    Hermes cIOS202 v4 (base 60)
    Hermes cIOS222 v4 (base 38)
    Hermes cIOS223 v4 (base 37)
    Waninkoko cIOS249/250 r17

Still no success. Seems like I have bad news for my friend. [IMG]
