    Hi Guys,
I want to re-softmod my Wii using ModMii. I'm planning to install 4.3u in My Wii for a fresh start. Is it safe to do it because I may brick my Wii. And secondly after I install 4.3u firmware on my Wii, I'm planning to reformat my Wii. Is it also safe to do that?

It's safe to upgrade to 4.3, but 4.3 is not any better than 4.1, so there's no point if you're already on 4.1 or 4.2 u may was well stay on 4.1 or 4.2.

If you are going to format you're Wii, u will lose the homebrew channel and any forwarder channels u might have installed. So it makes sense for you to format your Wii before using ModMii instead of afterwards.

As well as save files, shop channel downloads/rest of your wii points, message board letters, and probably more.

Formatting really helps nothing though, so I'd just skip that.

Formating will also change the Wii Friend-code (I did it once to fix the wrong time bug), so online games will recreate a new code too as it's based on the Wii code to generate a game-friendcode.
You'll have to tell your friends the new one.

It's really not needed to format, it will be more bad than good [IMG]

There is no reason to format your Wii or upgrade. It will only make things harder for you.

Well, for experts 4.1=4.3 but casual users having anything below 4.3 is an annoyance; install that wad for the shopping channel put the update block in this and that.

I hacked a couple of wiis. Install Hombrew, install 236, then install 249, 248 with bases 56 and 57 (using CIOX rev 21 or the most recent version) and Heremes 5.1. Yes modmii holds your hands while you do it, but it is pro CFG loader and pro wii back up manager. I use usbloader gx and few other loaders, but I prefer usbloader gx, wiims tools (and giantpune's qwitgui, if you want gui)... blah blah blah.. Also, I prefer wanins wad manager 1.7 and yawam to muti mod manager.

Wii is dead, I saw it is for $115 recently, by Christmas time it will be lower.

I am bored, flame me pls please please! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Games friend codes do not have to change, use savegamemanager GX to backup your savegames and reinstall after format.
    Messagebaord code does change, though.

Thanks for the quick reply. Thanks for the idea. My last question is if I update to 4.3u firmware can it brick my Wii?

If the Wii was at one point Korean, then region changed to another region (USA\PAL\JAP) then upgrading to 4.3 via nintendo will probably brick you (only exception is if you used ModMii or some other guide before hand that had the foresight to prevent such a brick). Upgrading to 4.3 using ModMii is safe for all Wii's, even region changed formerly Korean ones.

I agree that it's safe via ModMii (it's the official update that is dangerous), but it is still an unnecessary step.
