PS1/2 So yeah, that "stealth VIII" (PSX) modchip...

I'm just going to drop this off right here. To the left is the diagram for the stealth VIII. To the right is the diagram for the MultiMode 3 (with the second soldering point obscured by a textbox for some terrible reason). Notice anything, you know, similar?

Is there a particularly good explanation for this? Are the chips programmed differently, or is it a case of jerks trying to make a quick buck off of people who don't do their research?

I'm gonna say it's a case of jerks trying to make a quick buck. The flashcart/modchip scene has always been plagued by cheap clones like this. The business is so illigetimate anyway they figure why not make an exact clone and sell it.
