You're right, that does sounds stupid. IPS isn't as expensive as you'd love to pretend, I'm sure.

My guess is TN. Most console manufacturers tend to cheap out a bit on final revisions especially if they're for legacy hardware. You'll lose some color and contrast but have better battery as a result.
I have to find ANY real factual, supportive evidence to back up that claim other then people clammering "I can tell a difference!"
IPS isn't expensive, at all.
You can get pretty cheap smartphones with IPS displays for less than 50$
Regardless if its IPS I'll consider buy it, if they make it OLED then its gonna be an instant buy for me.

but nope, I would guess TN, even if the savings are tiny the console will almost certainly be getting produced as cheap as possible and designed for kids primarily(although that hinge looks pretty crap, I would imagine most parents would be put off buying one for a kid even if they turn out to be super durable, they still look weak)

Alas, what the previous user meant was, TN screens = better battery life = battery lasts longer.
Ergo, IPS consumes way more battery than TN.
Good job umbrella Corp dog. The questions still remains of what the actual data/time difference are? A few minutes? Big fucking deal! An extra hour? That actually means something and worth a trade off vs better colors and viewing angles.
