By my experience, this is what runs GOOD:

GameYob
QuickNES Retroarch
BlargSNES
Pokemini 3DS
NXEngine Retroarch

Other things i tried:

mGBA - It DEFINITELY doesn't run well
FCeumm Retroarch - 50% speed
Ganbatte Retroarch - 70% speed or so. Maybe more. Not perfect, that's for sure

Wanna try more this week, maybe Picodrive as you mentioned earlier?

Picodrive is a work in progress. There's some stuff playable, there's other stuff completely not playable and there's stuff in between.
But according to the latest reports (haven't tested yet), it seems it's improving with each update so I have hope that it will keep improving.

For Master System and Game Gear games, use Genesis Plus GX. Game Gear games run well on that core, but Master System games slow down by about 10FPS after you open the menu at least once for some reason. I've been using that instead of Picodrive since the .3dsx wasn't working, and it's definitely playable.

Agreed, there really is no better way to play portable games than on a portable console. Hopefully the Picodrive core gets its .3dsx version fixed soon so we can play Master System at constant full speed - I just tried the latest nightly and ROM loading is still borked.

Ok, i got into the (sorely incomplete) BlargSNES compatibility wiki, there are things that are factually wrong and a LOT of games are not showing, so since i can't program for shit this may be my contribution to the community.

Just say a game and i'll test it

Is there any actual benefit from kernel access on o3ds? Like, does anything use the difference well enough to bother with?

Does a retroarch cia running on a sky3ds have kernel access?

The main benefit of kernel access on o3ds is dynarec, which speeds up emulation of GBA games dramatically.

And no, I don't think that setup would work.

Yah, I'm running on an o3ds w/ rxtools myself but I figured if sky3ds stuff worked it might encourage people to work more on stuff with cia builds.

I know CitrAGB uses dynarec, but does anything else?

gPSP performance also varies depending on kernel access or the lack of it

so when you tempers say kernel access . . . is it the ability to run cias or run ninjhax1? im so confused
With kernel access, first: yes; second: not necessarily (but yes).

Edit: For you information, in this particular case, people refer to ability to use dynarec on some GBA emulators, necessary to run games to a very good speed (mainly on O3DS)!

gpSP has about 4 different speeds right now. Interpreter, 3x Interpreter, dynrec, and 3x dynrec. o3DS is capable of interpretation and dynrec, N3DS is capable of all of them (with 3x dynrec being full speed emulation for most games). Dynrec definitely helped a ton for gpsp though, interpreter makes a lot of emulators slow.

Will you port something else for the 3ds? Or some other projects? :)
