Yes I did. Because ですぅ and です are different things.

Actually, a little 'u' (ぅ) is used to emphasize and prolongate the 'u' sound in 'su' (す). It's the same as ですー or です~, but used to make it more kawaii.
It's informal/wrong usage, though. >_>

Google searching with ですぅ and です brings different results, but ですぅ also yields results pertaining to です.
So yeah, not different things, just more kawaii! ;O;

Usually they use ー　to extend and prolongate sounds, iirc. Never saw little 'u's being used for it. Well, I'm still at a basic level, but that's it

I doubt it's taught in schools because it's informal and wrong usage.

It's more of a Japanese internet slang, pertaining to anime characters with high-pitched voices saying desu~
