    Hi,

    I'm using this guide:

    http://gwht.wikidot.com/usb-loader

And I have got to the part where you prepare your ext. hard drive. So I got my ExHD and its a 160GB preformatted to NTFS. I understand that you have to change it either to WBFS or FAT. I don't know which one to use, but FAT seems easier, since I've worked with it before. But the thing is, I realise that FAT devices cannot hold files larger than 4GB, but many Wii games are like 4.3-4.7 GB. I have got Wii ISO backups on my Comp which are all over 4GB.

I also know that WIi games have dummy data which you can get rid off to reduce the file size to less than like 500 mb and there are versions online which have been scrubbed, but I dont want to redownload.

    So, basically, anyone help?

    Thanks [IMG]

Use the WBFS format, easier to use IMO. Use a WBFS Manager to copy Wii games over to the drive.

Ok, I just found out that on a FAT device, you still have to convert the isos to wbfs format and then it splits the 4GB into like 2Gb. Thats fine.

And I am using Configurable USBloader

I just want to ask, when converting an iso to wbfs using wbfsutility thing, does it get rid of dummy data automatically?

    Thanks

Actually wait, did you say NTFS? My drive is NTFS right now, which dol do I use? Coz the guides currently only tell about FAT and wbfs

imo better use wbfs to conserve disc space. iso game files in ntfs consumes too much disc space. though formatting your disc to wbfs limits its use solely for the wii.

@hatsu: i can see on your sig that you have accepted the fact that you spam a lot. lol. joke.

if i remember correctly the latest CFG and USBLoader GX has ntfs support, get the latest rev i guess, though you'll might have to switch around cIOS to see which one works(not sure)

    1. yes, it does.
    2. Format it to FAT, then use Configurable USB Loader to format it to WBFS. [IMG]

EDIT: always beating me to it, lolzed. [IMG]

yes. wbfs format trims the game size to its useful size.

Thankyou, I am formatting my hd now, and it says allocation unit size. What should I set it as? Thanks.

And on more thing [IMG] FAT is the same as FAT32 in this case right?

    Thanks
