So I finally started my job working at a gas station, and in the final half an hour stretch i totally fucked up. keep this is mind it was really busy, it was my first day and i was the only one working.

So i finish to pump this womens gas and charged the card and what not, as i finished the transaction i moved on the the next person. Now the lady i fished pumping gas for takes off in a hurry. when i looked up to see what was going on i noticed the hoes still in the tank. as i yelled "stop the car" I ran to shut down the pump and cause the hose snapped and gas was spewing everywhere. So now i got to repair this Brand new BMW and possibly the pump.

To my surprise the boss lets me keep my job but, what shocked me even more is that he didn't freak out and yell at me. So then the guy for the next shift shows up and he tells me that he busted the same pump twice.

So this is the reason for the title. Fitting don't you think.

What kind of an idiot drives away from a gas station without making sure the gas cap is closed? I'll bet that's not the first gas pump she's destroyed.

honestly ive been driving for 21 years now, and ive never heard or seen anyone do that.

Ive seen gas caps missing with the gas door open yet but too forget to pull the nozle out is pretty bad.

Don't worry man, not your fault. If she didn't drive away so hurriedly, things would have been very different. I'm not surprised your boss was cool with you

while this does sound to be entirely your fault isn't this type of situation what insurance is for both the gas station and the lady must have it i'm almost positive

I could not dissagree more. The driver of a vehicle should bear the responsibility for making certain that it is safe to start driving before flooring the gas pedal. If this person were qualified to drive, the only consequence of User200's mistake would have been a 15 second delay in leaving.

bummer man.

but some dude over here in good old germany fucked up even more.

the prices changed at the gas station, so he put in the new prices before he left (there are automats for the night, so he mostly runs the shop during the day) but he set the comma wrong, so you could buy gas a 100 times cheaper than usual.
the tanks were near empty the next day with a huge six digit loss.

OMG! She should be the one responsible! As was mentioned above, She was the one in control of the vehicle and the one who started the ignition... If she didnt care to check in her mirrors before she took off she needs the slap not you!! Im sure in the UK you could recieve a fine or even a ban for driving without due care and attention!!

Speaking of cars and petrol, 2 years ago, I passed my driving test and I was in the big wide world of driving and noticed I was low on fuel. So I went to a local station, put the pump into the car after removing the cap... and realised I didn't push the nozzle deep in. Cue a spurt of petrol all over my clothes. Now, at this point, I was panicking so much that I can't remember if I just informed the petrol attendant what happened and drove off without paying for the cost of the spilled fuel... or maybe I calmed down enough to put the petrol in, pay up and then drive off.

Strangely enough, I still have the clothes (WASHED) but my wallet was ruined.

Stupid woman , if you can't see that you have a fuel line still attached to your car , you don't deserve a license and shouldn't be on the road.

Same thing happened to my friend last year at school. He came back off lunch reaking like gas, and he was sent home because he was giving the other students headaches.

Another gas story. At school, I found a locker with a combination taped to the back, so naturally I opened it, and there was one thing inside: a Jerrycan filled with gas. It was pretty random so I just closed it up and locked the locker.
