I only have experience in English, and a small amount of Spanish (though not enough to get by).
I watch some anime, though it's all dubbed in English, and it's the generic InuYasha, DBZ etuff. I don't read manga either. The only reason I would want to learn Japanese is for video games, and to broaden my culture (i'm extremely "white" lol).

Knowing all of this, would it perhaps be a good or bad decision to dive off into self teaching myself Japanese? Don't get me wrong, I know this is going to take years; it isn't going to be a cakewalk.

Where would any of you suggest I start?

Awesome, thank you so very much.

I should have hit the forum search first ><. I'm used to Neoseeker, where up until about a few years ago there was no search function.
