So, last night, I was using my Wii just fine. I had just put Netflix on there and spent the night watching Dirty Harry. I go to turn on my wii today and everything seems fine. The health screen comes up and I press a to continue and then... System files are corruped please refer to your users manual. I didn't do anything special yesteryday, no updates or modified files. I suppose I should have had priiloader or something on but, I just never saw the need until now.

Does anyone have any ideas? Any reason why my wii would just spontaneoulsy brick or any options for fixing it? If nothing else, can I send it back to Nintendo? I have no idea about my warranty or anything but, would they even take it since I've got homebrew on it? Any help would be majorly apperciated, thank you.

Maybe when u added Netflix the service updated system files that were modified since u had homebrew in the wii and when u turned the wii on again it got fuucked...

I don't think that's the problem. I put the netflix disc on my usb loader so it didn't update the wii and, I had used it, turned off the wii then, turned it back on later just fine. I've had my Wii homebrewed for around 2 years now and everythings gone fine up to this point. I've made sure to be super cautious about everything, that's why this comes as such a suprise to me.

Do you have BootMii installed as Boot2?
If so you can access the Homebrew channel via bootmii menu and reinstall the system menu.

My Wii hasn't had trouble with the Netflix via USB.

I load it through Uloader, but that shouldn't matter what you use to load it.

It never has said that I have cIOS' or any "unauthorized software" installed.

I can't think of why it would brick your Wii.

nope... I know it seems stupid but, I never really did anything that could mess up the Wii so I never really saw the point in putting a bunch of pre-emptive stuff on it

    @tattar8

Constructive criticiscm please. I have to focus on what I can do now, not what I should have done before.

I was giving you a reason to have installed BootMii/boot2. Anyway, this seems to be a bannerbrick. Have you tried SaveMiiFrii/

No, I've not. I'd actually hadnt' heard of that until you just mentioned it. I'm willing to take apart a gamecube controller but I'd really like to know if this could fix my problem before I do so. I saw someone say something about it only working on modchipped wii's which I do not have.

Sounds like a Classic banner Brick but could also be a mail brick, the only way to really check is to try to boot your wii into maintenance mode, if it boots with maintenance mode its a mail brick, and you'll need to format your system, if it doesn't then the chances are it is a banner brick, and you'll need to remove the corrupted channel, your method of unbricking could vary depending on what hacks you have installed.

All your Info for a banner and Mail Brick is contained in this thread

It could either be a bannerbrick or a mail brick.

It happens sometimes: The Wii displays a system menu error, bot springs back to life on reboot.

Ok, I've installed bootmii as boot2 and I've made a nand backup. Thanks for the help even if the Wii just fixed itself.

One more question though. I am new at bootmii and I'm not quite sure about one thing. What is the icon of the sd card for? I know what all the rest do but, I'm just not sure about that sd icon. When I clicked on it, it just said Failed directory not found

    Both !!

Install bootmii as boot2 is THE best.

    Then take a NAND dump.

Then install Priiloader 0.77 or whatever the latest stable is, cause you can. (This is a MUST if you cannot install bootmii as boot2)
