I only bought a 1GB card but plan on getting this card in the next couple weeks.

    I also bought this.

After I get that in the mail, what else to do I need to do before I start modding?

I read the tutorial in the sticky, but I was wondering if anybody could link to me the most up to date programs that I need to use.

    Thanks for the help guys/gals!

Use Total Noob Installer. It will take you step-by-step on how to do it. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link you to it but you can google it.

The best guide is by Legion: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=89413

Follow that guide, don't bother with the others. Follow his directions and do the install for 3.80 NOT 3.90, you can upgrade after without any problem at all anyhow.

It explains to you EVERYTHING you need to know about PSP hacking, as well as some technical tidbits on the side that you might like to know.

I actually prefer ediblebird's guide for the process of making the battery/MMS, but Legion's guide fills in the information gaps. The PSPGrader route of the MMS is far easier.

Keep in mind that you cannot use it as a magic memory stick, and there are some reports of these running slow with games. It takes the PSP longer to access the data or something. This is just what I heard

Ill stick with memory stick pro duo, the read/write speed is much much faster.

I'm getting an 8gb for games/apps and ill have my 1gb as the magic memory stick.

Though I haven't tested it myself, I've read that at least the 8GB Mark 2 (not the 4GB) Sony Pro Duo is actually slower read than the 8GB Class 4 MicroSDHC in an adapter and much slower write when being written using a MicroSDHC cardreader (obviously without adapter). Anyhow, it's your choice so stick with it if that is your wish. Just remember you can find 8GB MicroSDHC these days for roughly $40. And as I said, you can use it for various applications such as putting it into the full sized SD adapter and running it in a digital camera or what have you later on down the road that isn't branded Sony.
