Anyone got any "minor" or "major" problems you had on a job or at school. What were the steps you took and how did you solve it?

These are basically the 2-6 behavior-type questions I get asked on interviews and I choke up on them every time. Even now, when I'm not under pressure, for the life of me, cannot think of any job-appropriate answers to prepare. This is what I blame is the reason why I'm so unsuccessful at job hunting. I get interviews, I just don't get call-backs and would like some help with these personal type of questions.

Most direct questions like "How would you deal with a customer if ____" I can pretty much wing it off the bat, and I don't need help. I also don't need any suggestions about dressing appropriately, initiating handshakes, and body manners, I'm already way ahead of you here... I just can't seem to get personal critical thinking behavior questions down, and I really don't have time to waste, I have enough money to cover the next month's rent, so obviously getting the job, or atleast a 2nd is something I need to get good at by tomorrow.

So anyone had any job-problems they wanna discuss?

First off, good luck!

This is actually one area I think most when it comes down to the human mind and the only solution I can find (in a very general sense) is the overall confidence in an individual. Generally, people grow up in life feeling that they are not in a position with power, there are amazing people with amazing degrees, people that have so much better leadership skills, better resumes, and just a better person overall.

This creates a barrier in the human mind and the most amazing part is that it's an illusion that needs to be shattered to cross the barrier. The responses you will be replying in your interview will be somewhat masked by this illusion, a compelling force that makes you feel there exists a right and a wrong answer, and a compelling force that makes you think carefully what the right answer would be. Unfortunately, this is also an illusion too that nevertheless can be shattered.

I have had 5 jobs since I graduated high-school and have a 1:1 ratio that if I get an interview I get the job. I have never been fired off of bad terms and moving onto the next job was part of my educational path, what is my secret? My secret is to shatter that illusion that creates the barrier, once that illusion has been shattered, that barrier can be crossed allowing for almost unlimited potential energy. There are multiple ways to shatter this illusion, the best way is to realize every idea of what is considered "better" or "worse" is created by an opinion. Sure, it may be the opinion of the majority and you may even receive tons of negative feedback for having an opinion that is not favored, but you will have confidence that not many people can achieve and it won't be overconfidence either.

I found out, the more I broke free from the illusion society pushes on it's citizens; not only were my interviews more unique than my competitors, they were natural. I didn't come up with fake ass responses like "the customer is always right" and "always listen to my supervisor", while that may be your opinion, it's very unoriginal. Why must the customer be always right? "It's because in a society we live in today, an age of lawsuits and where seemingly devious people strive for, sadly, more money... a corporation or large business must be accountable for it's employees just as the employees are representing the business. A customer is not always right by a procedure, it's statistically significant that in order to minimize the amount of penalties a business could face by assuring the customer is right. Besides, the majority of the time it's a matter of opinion where the battle is most likely on grey grounds, an argument here is not only time consuming, but logically has no conclusion."

I didn't even have to think about the response, I literally typed whatever came to my head as I was thinking about it. I didn't think of the next sentence until I finished the sentence I was typing. The part where it may be difficult saying it is that some passages may offend or even confuse the person you are interviewing. However, the uniqueness in the response will be the most significant variable in depending on whether you got the job.

Maybe I just got lucky with my interviews, maybe I just got lucky getting a full ride through a Ph.D. program, and maybe the world isn't overpopulated and there is no such thing as competition anymore. I'll let you decide as, my words are an opinion.
