Doesn't it like, hurt, or something?

    Seems like it would.

    Maybe that's the point?

I'm up for some laser tag though! Fun Fun Fun.

Yes it hurts a little, & sometimes allot. But that’s what makes it paint ball, if it
didn’t hurt you’d have a bunch of Rambo’s. But with the pain factor comes the
realism & way more fun. That’s why no one I know plays laser tag anymore no
pain makes every one a commando. [IMG]

Mthrnite your sig brings back memories, I remember everyone calling each
other asking what the hell is that! Something wonderful? That was the very
first virus we had ever seen, Good old Amiga days.

Ok, the "rambo" thing does make a lot of sense. Seems like that factor would add a lot of realism to the sport.
That's probably why I'd still prefer lasertag though, more like a videogame, less like real life.
So is it like FPS's in that you get campers, or similar "butthole" tactics?
You've got me curious about this, though it still seems a bit too.. hm, maybe violent is the word I'm looking for..

O/T part: Yeah CatScam, that SCA thing was a slice wasn't it? I was one of the steadfast naysayers (Virus? Not Possible!) until it popped up on me one day. I guess you remember the "Revenge" virus too, where the pointer turned into a uh.. ding dong... [IMG] I was selling Amigas when that one was making the rounds..

as CatScam mentioned, sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn't. You can always wear layer upon layer of clothing to protect yourself [IMG] You HAVE TO wear a mask the whole time your around paintball guns, so you'll be ok.

Oddly enough, while many people dont like paintball because its too "violent" it has very few injuries in comparison to other sports. I got this from the webisite:
    http://ip.bmj.com/cgi/content/abstract/10/3/139

but ill edit it for you lazy people.

    The study shows that:
Between 1997–2001 an annual average injury rate of 4.5 per 10 000 participants .
The paintball game related injury rate was highest for 18–24 year olds and most injuries (94.0%) occurred among males.
Almost 60% of all injured persons >=7 years were treated for paintball pellet wounds of which most were to the eye.
While 76.9% of injured persons ages 7–17 years were treated for paintball pellet wounds, almost 40% of those >=18 years were treated for injuries resulting from overexertion or a fall.
Most injured persons (95.5%) were treated and released.

Notice the bold please, the eye injuries could have been prevented if the user would have followed the rules, and never taken off his/her mask

    From ActionPursuitGames (major paintball magazine)
    http://www.actionpursuitgames.com/index.ph...id=53&Itemid=50

While membership in the "Extreme Sports" category implies a whiff of danger, only Paintball is handicapped by a huge injury taboo--one that exists in the public mind, but not in the statistics. The industry has long maintained that the rare (but highly publicized) eye injury almost always occurs in an unsupervised, unprotected, often illegal setting; and that Paintball is a very safe activity--a claim substantiated by the current research, as the sport reflected only 0.2 injuries per 1,000 exposures, the lowest injury rate of any Extreme Sport. Put another way, the average player will suffer a Paintball injury about once every 500 years.

The only physical contact with other players that you have is through paintballs. If you compare that with football, where the object is to tackle your opponent, id have to say that i'd prefer a paintball than a tackle from a 250 pound foot ball player [IMG]

so there you have it [IMG]

I used to play paintball often but nowadays not so much. Group of us guys used to just meet in the woods behind my church and play until the cases of balls and our co2 ran out. Good times.

I haven't been. But my mate went once and refused to wear goggles. Ended up with a paintball in the eye! Luckily it didn't blind him!

I've always wanted to go myself, but never had the opportunity! [IMG]

wait a minute.. arent those illegal? [IMG] (yes)

Id suggest everyone go if they can to play at a legit place. I know alot of people who say that its "too violent" and "promotes school shootings" but once you go and play for yourself, you'll notice that you dont feel like shooting up schools or killing people [IMG]
just make sure u wear your eye protection the whooollleeee time [IMG]
    oh and dont [IMG] before

But feel free to [IMG] afterwards [IMG]

After physical exhaustion, alcohol has a greater impact on your body, and you get wasted much faster [IMG]

Paintball is fun. Just remember, your goggles must always be on [IMG]
(Incidentally, swimming goggles can also work, but they don't really protect your nostrils... A friend learned that the hard way [IMG] Paintball up the nose!

I personally prefer AirSoft over Paintball. Less of a mess, and the guns look much more realistic. Less expensive, too. Any of you Paintballers out there that haven't given Airsoft a shot should do so!
