SNK reveals Neo Geo Mini console

IMG_7889.JPG

Back in April, SNK announced that they would be releasing a throwback console to celebrate the company's 40th anniversary. Now, we've gotten our first look at the newly revealed Neo Geo Mini. The little piece of hardware will consist of a 3.5 LCD screen, an HDMI-out slot, a headphone jack, and two controller ports, while weighing 600 grams. Also included are 40 different Neo Geo games, although specifics weren't mentioned outside of the pictured games, which are Metal Slug I and II, Fatal Fury 1 and 2, The King of Fighters '97 and '98, Samurai Showdown V Special, and Samurai Showdown II. Currently, there is also no release window or price. SNK is also releasing a compilation game package for the Switch.

I believe fighting games are meant to be played on big screens with proper arcade stick so not a big fan of this.

But it's cute.

That is the most retarded arcade stick ever. It resembles fisher price crane controls better than anything fisher price ever put out.

are you blind??
the gba screen is 2.9'' and is big enough to play without any issues. 3.5'' is very close to the dsi and new 3ds non-xl, the perfect size.
your not playing gba or ds games, these were arcade games that were played and done for a full tv sized screen...
gba and ds games were games made for the smaller screen and had all zoom and everything made around the limitations since they knew the screen size, playing metal slug on a tiny screen the size of o3ds will be preety crappy imo, but it has a hdmi output so yeah i guess but i bet they will inflate the pricce of this skyhigh due to the built in screen im guessing 99$ or more.

then again many people installed retroarch or neods to play those exact games on their "tiny" 3/ds screens without ever complaining about it.
I encourage you to go and try it yourself, metal slug and the last blade look and play amazing on my "ant sized" new 3ds.

while the move to include a screen on the neogeo mini is clearly to say "we are better than the others", is still a nice feature without cutting the possibility to play on a big screen and with proper controls.

I really think the screen is for show, and part of the cute factor.
It is really beautiful as it is, the same with the control included.
It makes for a very pretty collectors item that I would proudly show up on my cupboard.
That the screen and controls are functional is a plus, and makes it even cuter.
Sure there might be some games that you can play well on that screen and controls, and some other that you can't. But if you want to play then connect it to the TV, as far as I am concerned the screen+controls are for shows, and they look great! And if it is really 99€ that sounds like a steal, would pay quite more than that.

that is a thing of tastes. I personally like smaller devices so I can put them on my pockets and with that comes a reduced screen size.
but that's exactly my question. why are people so obsessed with bigger screens now days? are the human eyes becoming weaker thus needing bigger displays?
maybe I should create a thread about it instead of derailing this one anymore.

Yes, and it is called getting older.
First time I noticed was when I started having problems playing games on my 3DS and had to switch to an XL.
DS games that I played fine on my DS Lite before.

So yes, the human eye is becoming weaker, because the human tempers are becoming older.
