SNK reveals Neo Geo Mini console

IMG_7889.JPG

Back in April, SNK announced that they would be releasing a throwback console to celebrate the company's 40th anniversary. Now, we've gotten our first look at the newly revealed Neo Geo Mini. The little piece of hardware will consist of a 3.5 LCD screen, an HDMI-out slot, a headphone jack, and two controller ports, while weighing 600 grams. Also included are 40 different Neo Geo games, although specifics weren't mentioned outside of the pictured games, which are Metal Slug I and II, Fatal Fury 1 and 2, The King of Fighters '97 and '98, Samurai Showdown V Special, and Samurai Showdown II. Currently, there is also no release window or price. SNK is also releasing a compilation game package for the Switch.

Interesting to see if that thing could be hacked. Having a little arcade machine with emulators on it would be pretty useful. If not just loading more neo geo games on it would be great too. I really hope it has Metal Slug 3

If the form factor of that image is anything to go by, I'm imagining a small tabletop MVS-type cabinet that can play both MVS and AES Neo Geo games.

It'd be a good way to stand out from all the other throwback "emulator in a box" consoles being released lately.
Heh, called it. Though, given that teaser image from the last thread, who really thought it would be anything else?

Yeah... how is anyone supposed to play two players? A link cable? :P

Sorry, I know is kinda interesting but most of the games are 5 versions of King of fighters, 3 samurai showdown, 2 fatal fury, (All fighting games by the way) and like a million metal slug games.

Rather go with the switch neo geo collection, least it has cheaper price and more controller options and even NES exclusive crystalis. :creep:

Looks easier to use the controls as a portable than to use it as an arcade machine.

As cool as this is, I think it would have been cooler, if it was actually designed as a handheld.
