bsnes and snes9x are accurate emulators. It isn't an excuse.
The old 3DS is a pretty underpowered device, and Nintendo has some high standards for how VC games run. Or else we'd see N64 on o3DS by now... that runs Mario 64 at 1/4 speed.
Having exclusive games is a pretty great thing for Nintendo, especially for a system with pretty much none.
Yep, I agree that Higan is an excellent emulator. Still made by a hobbyist without the official technical knowledge. Hell, the guy even had to pay for lots of money for hardware decapping through the years. Nintendo would DEFINITELY do better (and I mean, on the performance side of things, not the accuracy).
On the second quote, I still think that O3DS is more than enough for their standards. That's my opinion however.
Lastly, about the last quote, yes, in my POV that would be the only real reason to motivate such a release.
