Hacking SNES Special Edition Controller and homebrew

I'm interested in getting a couple of the japanese limited edition SNES classic controllers for the wii.

Do they fuction as classic controllers?

Will I be able to use the snes controller with any homebrew that is compatible with the regular classic controller?

Yes they function just like classic controllers afaik.
So I _assume_ it would just work fine with homebrew.

They seem to be missing analog sticks so I guess homebrew will work, but not n64 games.

Want an alternative? Get a RetroPort which plugs into a GC controller port and allows you to hook up a real SNES controller. Its $19
